SmartCut is a cloud-based cutting optimization API for manufacturing and cut-to-size retail. You POST a list of parts and the stock you have available, and it returns an optimised cutting pattern with diagrams, labels and machine-ready files.

It covers sheet, linear and roll materials, with guillotine, beam-saw and true-shape nesting cut types, and two search depths: Fast returns a plan in under two seconds, Max searches harder for a better result. Output includes PDF, CSV, DXF and SVG, plus native files for 13+ beam saw models across 8 vendors including Homag, Biesse, Mayer, SCM, Schelling, Giben and Striebig.

Beyond the REST API there is an embeddable JavaScript calculator, a WooCommerce plugin for selling cut-to-size materials online, result webhooks, and a hosted MCP server so an AI agent can run optimisations directly.

Results are published rather than claimed. Against Biesse OptiPlanner on 2,000+ real production jobs, SmartCut Max used 123 fewer stock pieces, and 82% of the 2,083-job benchmark corpus was solved using the fewest stock the job could physically need.
