Though with flights, you can also optimize a lot if you have enough lead time: I recommend https://skyscanner.com/ Trains are nice if you need to transport anything of volume, if you stay longer than a day or two so you can amortize the travel time, if you have lots of run-up time, and probably cheaper if you travel a lot. I'm a new coder too. What helps me is finding a good place to learn the most basic principles and having 2-5 things I want to do. I started with codedex.io , learning Python and HTML and then took their courses and moved on looking for projects with tutorials. Little steps one by one.
