Possible disadvantages

  • Limited Scalability
Skool may not be suited for very large institutions or organizations, as it could face challenges in managing an extensive user base effectively.
  • Pricing Structure
The pricing model may not be ideal for all users, especially independent educators or smaller organizations with limited budgets.
  • Feature Limitations
While Skool offers a variety of tools, some advanced features present in other educational platforms may not be available, limiting functionality for certain use cases.
  • Dependency on Internet
As an online platform, Skool requires a stable internet connection, which may not always be available in all regions, potentially limiting access for some users.
  • Simplicity and Ease of Use
As the name suggests, SimpleCourse is designed to be user-friendly and straightforward, making it accessible for course creators without extensive technical skills to build and launch online courses quickly.
  • Affordable Pricing
SimpleCourse typically offers competitive pricing plans compared to larger platforms, making it an attractive option for individual educators, coaches, and small businesses with limited budgets.
  • Quick Setup
The platform allows users to get their course infrastructure up and running in a short amount of time, reducing the technical barrier to entry for launching an online educational product.
  • Focused Feature Set
By concentrating on core course creation and delivery features rather than trying to be an all-in-one marketing suite, the platform can provide a cleaner, less cluttered user experience.
  • Suitable for Beginners
The streamlined interface and simplified workflow make it particularly suitable for first-time course creators who are not familiar with complex learning management systems (LMS).

Possible disadvantages

  • Limited Advanced Features
Compared to more established and comprehensive platforms, SimpleCourse may lack advanced features such as sophisticated marketing automation, complex quizzing/assessment tools, or extensive third-party integrations.
  • Smaller Community and Support Resources
As a newer or smaller platform, it may have a smaller user community, resulting in fewer third-party tutorials, forums, and troubleshooting resources compared to industry giants.
  • Scalability Concerns
For creators who plan to scale up significantly with thousands of students or complex course catalogs, the platform's simplicity might become a limitation if it lacks the robust infrastructure needed for high-volume traffic.
  • Customization Limitations
The focus on simplicity might mean restricted options for deep customization of the course design, checkout pages, or branding compared to more flexible, code-heavy platforms.
  • Newer Platform Risk
If SimpleCourse is a relatively new entrant to the market, there may be uncertainties regarding long-term company stability, ongoing feature updates, and its ability to compete with well-funded incumbents.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Skool and SimpleCourse.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

SimpleCourse's answer:

SimpleCourse is built on the Django Framework.

What makes your product unique?

SimpleCourse's answer:

It is the only platform that has ease of use as their number one priority. Everything is built around saving you time and headache. Things just work.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

SimpleCourse's answer:

If you want a reliable tool that simply lets you create, host and sell online courses. There are many competitors, but they all try to outperform each other by just adding more features and gimmicks - which 99% of the time you won't need. But they then turn around and hike prices because of those new features.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

SimpleCourse's answer:

Solopreneurs. Someone without a team, or at most a very small one. Someone who just wants a course hosting platform that is not adding another drain on their time and mental capacity.

What's the story behind your product?

SimpleCourse's answer:

Our founder was running a course business. He was getting annoyed by other platforms becoming more and more bloated overtime. They became buggier, ignoring their core feature: online courses. So he decided to build a course platform that simply lets you create, host and sell online courses, nothing else.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

SimpleCourse's answer:

Thinkific, Teachable, Podia, Skool, LearnDash, LearnWorlds.
