Analysis

An editorial look at what each product does well and who it suits.

SimplyHRA
WordPress

Overall verdict

  • SimplyHRA appears to be a niche software platform designed to help small businesses and insurance brokers set up and administer Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs), particularly QSEHRA and ICHRA plans. Based on available information, it seems to be a solid, purpose-built option for organizations seeking a straightforward way to manage HRA benefits without the overhead of larger, more expensive HR platforms, though I don't have verified independent reviews or extensive user feedback to fully confirm its overall quality and customer satisfaction levels.

Why this product is good

  • Focuses specifically on HRA (Health Reimbursement Arrangement) administration, offering specialized expertise rather than generic HR features
  • Likely offers a more affordable alternative to full-scale HR/benefits platforms for small businesses
  • May simplify compliance with IRS rules for QSEHRA and ICHRA plans
  • Could provide streamlined onboarding and plan setup for brokers and employers new to HRAs

Recommended for

  • Small to medium-sized businesses looking to offer HRA benefits without complex enrollment systems
  • Insurance brokers who need a tool to help clients set up and manage HRA plans
  • Employers transitioning from traditional group health insurance to defined contribution health benefits
  • Companies seeking a cost-effective, focused solution rather than an all-in-one HR suite

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing SimplyHRA and WordPress.

What makes your product unique?

SimplyHRA's answer

SimplyHRA combines three things no other ICHRA administrator offers together:

  • All-in pricing at $29/employee/month — No setup fees, no platform fees, no onboarding fees, no switching fees. Competitors charge $54-95/employee/month after platform fees.
  • Pre-funded virtual Visa cards — Employees get a pre-funded card that pays premiums directly to carriers. No reimbursement forms, no 4-week waits, no "submit receipts and pray."
  • Licensed benefits specialists included — Every employee gets one-on-one guidance from a licensed, local benefits specialist to compare and enroll in plans — at no extra cost. Competitors charge extra or leave employees navigating Healthcare.gov alone.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

SimplyHRA's answer

  1. Pricing. SimplyHRA is $29 per employer per month all-in. Our competitors like Take Command, PeopleKeep, and Thatch can cost $54-$95 per employee per month including platform fees

  2. Human support: Licensed benefits specialists are included at no extra charge. Our competitors like Take Command, PeopleKeep, and Thatch charge extra or provide self-service only.

  3. Payment experience: With SimplyHRA, your colleagues receive a pre-funded virtual card that they can use with auto-pay for their premiums. Our competitors like Take Command, PeopleKeep, and Thatch will make your team submit receipts and then wait 2-4 weeks for reimbursement.

  4. Setup: SimplyHRA does not charge setup fees. Our competitors like Take Command, PeopleKeep, and Thatch commonly charge $250-$500 setup fees.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

SimplyHRA's answer

We serve employers, HR managers, and employees.

  1. Small business owners and HR managers who are: • Weary of group health insurance premium increases (often 15-40% annually) • Not HR experts — they run law firms, dental practices, construction companies, restaurants, tech startups • Looking for predictable, fixed healthcare costs • Want to offer competitive benefits without hiring an HR department • May have remote/hybrid employees across multiple states

2: Employees who: • Want health insurance that covers their doctors and family needs • Don't want to navigate Healthcare.gov alone • Prefer a card that pays premiums automatically over reimbursement paperwork

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

SimplyHRA's answer

Core Stack: • Frontend/Website: Webflow CMS (blog, glossary, marketing pages) • Platform Application: Custom web application (likely React/Vue-based) • Backend: Node.js or Python-based API services • Database: PostgreSQL or similar relational database

Key Integrations: • Payroll: Gusto, Rippling, Plane, ADP, and 50+ payroll providers • Payments: Virtual Visa card issuance, ACH bank transfers • Identity/SSO: OAuth/SAML support

AI/ML: • AI assistant for eligibility questions and compliance support • Document processing for receipt/claim classification

What's the story behind your product?

SimplyHRA's answer

SimplyHRA was founded by Sinan Sari and Saif Akhtar. Sinan's background spans engineering leadership at various startups and corporations like Oscar Health, Tasso Health, Cuboh, and Kidsy, while Saif's background spans product management at multiple startups and building incubation centers, accelerators, and early-stage VC funds.

The company emerged from firsthand experience helping small businesses navigate the ICHRA landscape after the 2020 federal regulations made Individual Coverage HRAs available to all employers. The founding insight: small businesses were being underserved by existing ICHRA administrators — charged platform fees + per-employee fees + broker commissions, while employees were left to figure out plan selection on their own.

SimplyHRA's mission: make ICHRA administration genuinely simple and affordable, with human support included, so employers can offer competitive health benefits without dedicated HR staff or expensive consultants.
