Possible disadvantages

  • Smaller Community and Ecosystem
Compared to major hosting providers like DigitalOcean, AWS, or even shared hosts like SiteGround, Opalstack has a smaller user base, which means fewer community tutorials, third-party guides, and forum discussions available for troubleshooting.
  • Limited Scalability Options
Opalstack is primarily a shared hosting provider, which means it may not be the best choice for high-traffic applications or projects that require rapid, on-demand scaling of resources like CPU, RAM, or storage.
  • Not Ideal for Beginners
While developer-friendly, Opalstack's approach can be intimidating for non-technical users. Setting up applications often requires familiarity with the command line and server configuration, which may not suit those looking for simple one-click solutions.
  • Limited Data Center Locations
Opalstack offers a relatively small number of data center locations compared to major cloud providers, which may result in higher latency for users targeting audiences in regions not well-served by the available server locations.
  • Fewer Managed Services and Add-ons
Unlike larger hosting platforms, Opalstack lacks a wide range of managed add-on services such as built-in CDN integration, managed backups with granular restore options, or one-click SSL management that more mainstream providers offer out of the box.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Shopaliz and Opalstack.

What makes your product unique?

Shopaliz's answer

Shopaliz is built exclusively for Shopify, not a generic app builder trying to support every platform. This focus means deeper Shopify integration, real-time sync, and a setup process that takes minutes, not weeks.

Unlike enterprise solutions like Tapcart that target large retailers with high budgets, Shopaliz is designed for independent and growing Shopify merchants who want a professional mobile app without hiring a development agency or paying thousands per month.

Everything is managed from a single bilingual dashboard (French & English), making it one of the few mobile app builders natively serving the French-speaking e-commerce market while expanding internationally.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Shopaliz's answer

Affordable without compromise. Most Shopify mobile app builders charge $200–$500/month and lock key features behind higher tiers. Shopaliz starts at $69/month (€59/month) with push notifications included from day one.

Zero technical barrier. No developer, no agency, no code. Your Shopify store becomes a live iOS and Android app in minutes, products, collections, and inventory sync automatically.

Shopify-only focus. Competitors like Vajro or AppMySite try to serve every e-commerce platform. Shopaliz does one thing: turn Shopify stores into mobile apps, and does it better because of that focus.

Human support that actually responds. No chatbot maze. Merchants get direct onboarding support from the Shopaliz team, something larger platforms can't offer at their scale.

Built for European merchants. GDPR-compliant, bilingual dashboard (FR/EN), and a team that understands the French and European e-commerce market. Also available for US merchants at a price point significantly lower than US-based competitors.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Shopaliz's answer

Independent and growing Shopify merchants, typically doing €10K–€500K/year in revenue, who want to offer their customers a branded mobile app without the cost or complexity of custom development.

More specifically: fashion boutiques, specialty food brands, niche retailers, and direct-to-consumer brands on Shopify who are serious about customer retention and want push notifications as a direct marketing channel.

Geographically: French-speaking merchants in France, Belgium, and Switzerland as the primary market, with expansion into English-speaking markets (UK, US, Canada, Australia) underway.

What's the story behind your product?

Shopaliz's answer

Shopaliz was born from a simple observation: Shopify merchants were losing customers to mobile. Their stores looked great on desktop, but the mobile web experience was frustrating, slow, impersonal, and with no direct way to reach customers after they left.

The solution existed, a branded mobile app, but it was reserved for large retailers with €50K+ development budgets and months of lead time. Independent merchants were left behind.

Damien Payet, founder, built Shopaliz to fix that. The idea was straightforward: take everything a Shopify merchant already has, their products, their brand, their customers and turn it into a native iOS and Android app in minutes, not months. No agency. No developer. No fortune.

Shopaliz launched as a SaaS in 2025, serving French-speaking merchants first, with an international expansion underway for 2026.
