Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Second Computer and Markdown to Email.

What makes your product unique?

Markdown to Email's answer:

Most Markdown-to-HTML converters aren't built for email — they output HTML with blocks and modern CSS that Outlook and other clients simply strip out. Markdown to Email inlines every style rule automatically, so the output survives real-world email rendering rather than looking broken the moment it's pasted into an ESP. It also adds two extensions built specifically for newsletters, Markdown-syntax callout boxes and CTA buttons, that no comparable free converter offers. And unlike most "free" tools, there's no account, no upload, and no server: conversion happens entirely in the browser.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Markdown to Email's answer:

Most alternatives are either generic Markdown-to-HTML converters that ignore email-specific rendering quirks, or full ESP platforms that require an account just to format one email. Markdown to Email is purpose-built for the email use case (inlined CSS, Outlook-safe table fallbacks, email-safe callouts and buttons), stays completely free with no signup wall, and never sends your content to a server, which matters if you're drafting anything before it's ready to share.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Markdown to Email's answer:

Independent newsletter writers and Substack/beehiiv/ConvertKit users who draft in Markdown, marketers producing HTML campaigns without a design team, and indie developers or founders sending product updates who want clean formatting without hand-writing inline CSS.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Markdown to Email's answer:

Markdown to Email is built with Astro and Preact, using markdown-it for parsing, juice for CSS inlining, and DOMPurify for sanitizing the live preview Its all running 100% client-side with no backend.
