Possible disadvantages

  • Smaller Community and Ecosystem
Compared to major hosting providers like DigitalOcean, AWS, or even shared hosts like SiteGround, Opalstack has a smaller user base, which means fewer community tutorials, third-party guides, and forum discussions available for troubleshooting.
  • Limited Scalability Options
Opalstack is primarily a shared hosting provider, which means it may not be the best choice for high-traffic applications or projects that require rapid, on-demand scaling of resources like CPU, RAM, or storage.
  • Not Ideal for Beginners
While developer-friendly, Opalstack's approach can be intimidating for non-technical users. Setting up applications often requires familiarity with the command line and server configuration, which may not suit those looking for simple one-click solutions.
  • Limited Data Center Locations
Opalstack offers a relatively small number of data center locations compared to major cloud providers, which may result in higher latency for users targeting audiences in regions not well-served by the available server locations.
  • Fewer Managed Services and Add-ons
Unlike larger hosting platforms, Opalstack lacks a wide range of managed add-on services such as built-in CDN integration, managed backups with granular restore options, or one-click SSL management that more mainstream providers offer out of the box.

Why this product is good

  • I lack specific, verified data about this particular website or service in my training
  • The site may be new, niche, or not well-documented in publicly available sources I was trained on
  • Making claims about an unfamiliar service without verification could be misleading or inaccurate
  • Legitimacy and quality of QR code or scanning services can vary widely and require direct verification

  • Users should independently verify this service by checking recent reviews on trusted platforms (Trustpilot, Reddit, etc.)

  • Search for the service name alongside terms like 'scam' or 'review' to find community feedback

Overall verdict

  • Opalstack is a solid choice for developers and tech-savvy users seeking an affordable, flexible control panel hosting solution with good performance and transparent pricing, though it may require more technical know-how than mainstream cPanel hosts.

Why this product is good

  • No long-term contracts required, allowing flexibility

Recommended for

  • Developers who need support for Python, Node.js, or other non-PHP applications
  • Users comfortable with a more technical, non-cPanel control panel interface

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Scanqur and Opalstack.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Scanqur's answer

  • L’instant Café
  • Restaurant La Madrague
  • Le 59 Restaurant logo
  • QUAI54FOOD2026

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Scanqur's answer

Independent merchants: café and restaurant owners, bars, fast food, hotels, salons and small shops. Typically owner-operated businesses with 1 to 50 employees, often non-technical, who manage their business from a phone. Scanqur also fits multi-location businesses thanks to branch management and role-based team permissions.

What makes your product unique?

Scanqur's answer

Scanqur turns a photo of a paper menu into a working digital menu. Our AI scanner reads the photo and extracts categories, items, descriptions and prices, so a restaurant owner goes from paper to a live QR menu in minutes instead of retyping everything. Menus are multilingual by default (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic, with full right-to-left support and one-click auto-translation), which very few menu builders offer. And it goes beyond the menu: table ordering, WhatsApp ordering, reservations and analytics are built in.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Scanqur's answer

Three reasons. Speed: the AI menu scanner means you never retype your menu; competitors make you build it item by item. Languages: most QR menu tools treat translation as an afterthought; Scanqur ships five languages with RTL support and auto-translation out of the box. Honest pricing: Scanqur is free during early access with no credit card, and the future starter plan is designed to stay affordable for a solo café owner, not priced for chains. It is built phone-first, so merchants can manage everything from their smartphone between two rushes.

What's the story behind your product?

Scanqur's answer

Scanqur started when we watched small restaurant owners struggle with the QR menu wave: existing tools were either expensive subscriptions built for chains, or cheap PDF viewers that customers hated. Owners were retyping their whole menu into clunky dashboards, in one language only. We built Scanqur around the way merchants actually work: photograph the menu you already have, get a clean digital menu in minutes, update it from your phone, and serve customers in their own language. It is free while we build it in the open with our early users.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Scanqur's answer

Vue.js 3 with Tailwind CSS on the front end, Supabase (PostgreSQL, realtime subscriptions and row-level security) as the backend, Firebase Hosting with pre-rendered pages for performance and SEO, and AI-powered OCR for the menu scanner. Tested with Vitest and Playwright.
