Features and specs

What each product offers, as listed by its team.

Save Replay 3 features
Modular JavaScript 5 features
  • Browser-based trimming
Preview the recording locally and select the exact start and end.
  • Upload only the selected clip
Avoid uploading the entire source video when you only need one moment.
  • Share link created immediately
Copy the public URL while processing continues; basic flow needs no account.
  • Improved Code Organization
Modular JavaScript allows developers to break down code into smaller, manageable modules. This enhances code readability and maintainability by organizing related functionality together.
  • Code Reusability
Modules encourage reusability by allowing the same piece of code to be used across different projects or multiple areas of the same application, reducing redundancy.
  • Scalability
As the application grows, managing code becomes easier with modular JavaScript. Each module can be developed, tested, and maintained independently, making the codebase more scalable.
  • Encapsulation
Modules provide encapsulation, preventing variables and functions from polluting the global namespace. This reduces the risk of naming conflicts and bugs.
  • Improved Testing
With code organized into discrete modules, writing unit tests becomes more straightforward. Each module can be tested individually, leading to more reliable and maintainable tests.

Possible disadvantages

  • Increased Complexity
Introducing modularity can add complexity to the build process, as it often requires module loaders or bundlers (like Webpack or Browserify) to manage dependencies.
  • Overhead
For smaller projects, using a modular approach might be overkill, introducing unnecessary overhead in terms of setup, configuration, and code management.
  • Learning Curve
Developers unfamiliar with modular JavaScript may face a learning curve, especially when dealing with module patterns, loaders, and bundlers.
  • Dependency Management
Relying on multiple modules can lead to complex dependency chains, making it challenging to track and resolve dependencies across different modules.
  • Performance Overhead
Modular JavaScript can introduce performance overhead if not managed properly, such as loading many small modules individually, leading to increased HTTP requests.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Save Replay and Modular JavaScript.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Save Replay's answer

Choose Save Replay when you have a long recording but only need to send a short part of it. There is no account requirement for the basic flow, the interface stays focused on trimming and sharing, and you do not have to upload the whole source video first. It is a better fit for a quick bug clip, gaming moment, demo, or screen recording than a full editing suite.

What makes your product unique?

Save Replay's answer

The useful part happens before the upload. You preview the recording locally, mark the exact moment you want, and Save Replay uploads only that segment. It also creates the share link as the upload starts, so you can copy it right away instead of waiting for a full recording to finish.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Save Replay's answer

People who regularly have a recording that is much longer than the part they want to share: gamers, developers reporting bugs, support teams, product makers, teachers, creators, and anyone sending a quick clip to friends or teammates. It is especially useful when speed matters more than advanced editing.

What's the story behind your product?

Save Replay's answer

Save Replay started from a simple frustration: uploading a full recording just to share 15 useful seconds felt backwards. The product was built around reversing that order—pick the moment first, upload only what matters, and get the link early. The goal is to keep that path fast and uncluttered rather than turn it into another heavy video editor.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Save Replay's answer

The web app uses Next.js and React. Video preparation uses browser media capabilities with Mediabunny, while server-side processing uses FFmpeg and HLS.js powers adaptive playback. Product data is handled through PostgreSQL and Prisma, clips are stored in Backblaze B2, and Stripe handles Pro billing.
