I love IRC but it serves a slightly different purpose. It isn't threaded and it sacrifices permanency for instantaneousness. In my opinion, a forums and chat rooms compliment each other. Saidit is one good Reddit alternative that implements IRC. It's based on Reddit's code but with some modifications. Every page has an embedded IRC box specific to that subcommunity. For example I can access eclipse.org in chrome without issue. I'm seeing my PA cert when I check it's trusted. However when I run the eclipse installer it fails which I suspect is because of the decryption. I'm seeing this log in the decryption log both before and after installing the IA cert and when both using the installer or browsing the site. Source: about 3 years ago
