Possible disadvantages

  • Smaller Community and Ecosystem
Compared to major hosting providers like DigitalOcean, AWS, or even shared hosts like SiteGround, Opalstack has a smaller user base, which means fewer community tutorials, third-party guides, and forum discussions available for troubleshooting.
  • Limited Scalability Options
Opalstack is primarily a shared hosting provider, which means it may not be the best choice for high-traffic applications or projects that require rapid, on-demand scaling of resources like CPU, RAM, or storage.
  • Not Ideal for Beginners
While developer-friendly, Opalstack's approach can be intimidating for non-technical users. Setting up applications often requires familiarity with the command line and server configuration, which may not suit those looking for simple one-click solutions.
  • Limited Data Center Locations
Opalstack offers a relatively small number of data center locations compared to major cloud providers, which may result in higher latency for users targeting audiences in regions not well-served by the available server locations.
  • Fewer Managed Services and Add-ons
Unlike larger hosting platforms, Opalstack lacks a wide range of managed add-on services such as built-in CDN integration, managed backups with granular restore options, or one-click SSL management that more mainstream providers offer out of the box.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Roomtodo and Opalstack.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Roomtodo's answer

Homeowners, DIY home renovators, Interior designers, Interior decorators, Architects and space planners, Furniture retailers and manufacturers, Renovation companies, Real estate companies, Property developers, Exhibition and trade-show companies, Students studying interior design or architecture

What makes your product unique?

Roomtodo's answer

Roomtodo uses a different approach to floor plan construction than most online room planners. Instead of defining walls primarily by a center line and calculating their thickness around it, Roomtodo works with the internal and external wall contours. This makes it much easier to create complex wall configurations, including angled walls and walls with uneven thickness, while maintaining accurate dimensions.

This approach gives Roomtodo a combination of the precision typically associated with professional planning software and the accessibility of an online tool. Users can create detailed 2D floor plans and then continue working with the same project in 3D, furnishing the space, applying materials and finishes, creating renders and 360-degree tours, and preparing the project for presentation or further use.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Roomtodo's answer

Roomtodo is particularly useful for users who need more than a simple schematic room layout but do not want to spend weeks learning professional CAD software. Its wall-building technology is designed around internal and external contours, making it possible to create complex layouts and walls with varying thickness while working with accurate dimensions and measurements.

At the same time, Roomtodo remains an accessible browser-based application. Users can move from detailed 2D floor planning to interactive 3D visualization, furnish and customize the space, work with materials, create realistic renders and 360-degree tours, share projects and export their work.

This combination of accurate floor planning, flexible wall construction and easy-to-use 3D interior design tools is the main reason to choose Roomtodo over simpler online floor planners.
