  • Compatibility
Roku devices are compatible with most TVs, sound systems, and other devices, providing a versatile streaming solution.

Possible disadvantages of Roku

  • Limited Free Content
While Roku offers some free channels, the majority of popular content requires a subscription or one-time purchase.
  • Ads in Free Channels
Many of the free channels available on Roku are ad-supported, which can be a drawback for users who prefer an uninterrupted viewing experience.
  • No Built-In Voice Assistant
Unlike some competitors, Roku devices do not come with a built-in voice assistant like Alexa or Google Assistant.
  • Improved but Limited Original Content
Roku has started producing its own original content, but it is still relatively limited compared to giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
  • Interface Customization
The interface, while user-friendly, offers limited customization options, which might not appeal to users who prefer a more personalized setup.
  • Dependent on Internet Connection
Roku devices rely entirely on an internet connection to stream content, so users with unstable or slow internet may experience issues.

CommitCat features and specs

  • Simplified Git Interface
CommitCat aims to provide a user-friendly graphical interface for Git, making version control more accessible to developers who may find the command line intimidating or cumbersome.
  • Free and Open Source
CommitCat is offered as a free tool, lowering the barrier to entry for individuals and small teams who need a Git client without the cost associated with some commercial alternatives.
  • Cross-Platform Support
CommitCat is designed to work across multiple operating systems, allowing developers on different platforms to use the same familiar tool for their version control needs.
  • Beginner-Friendly
The tool is positioned to help newcomers to Git and version control by providing a more visual and intuitive way to manage repositories, commits, and branches without needing deep command-line expertise.
  • Lightweight Application
CommitCat is designed to be a lightweight Git client that doesn't consume excessive system resources, making it suitable for developers who prefer a lean, fast tool over feature-heavy alternatives.

Possible disadvantages of CommitCat

  • Limited Feature Set
Compared to more established Git clients like GitKraken, Sourcetree, or Fork, CommitCat may lack advanced features such as built-in merge conflict resolution tools, advanced branch visualization, or deep integration with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Small Community and Ecosystem
As a lesser-known tool, CommitCat has a smaller user community, which means fewer tutorials, community-driven plugins, and peer support compared to mainstream Git clients.
  • Limited Visibility and Traction
CommitCat appears to have limited online presence and user reviews, making it difficult for potential users to assess its reliability, maturity, and long-term viability before adopting it.
  • Uncertain Development Activity
It is unclear how actively CommitCat is being maintained and developed. A tool with infrequent updates may fall behind in compatibility with newer Git features or operating system updates.
  • Lack of Enterprise Features
CommitCat may not offer enterprise-grade features such as team collaboration tools, access control integrations, or support for large-scale repository management that organizations often require.

  • New to Roku after finally cutting the cable cord, 2 questions.
"Question 2: I bought two Roku Ultras" - You activate both Rokus on the same account on roku.com. I've had a Roku Ultra for some time and recently bought a Roku Express 4K for the guest bedroom for visiting relatives. When I activated the new Roku on my account it automatically duplicated all my apps on to the new one. But test each app, a few required me to log in on the new Roku. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Any fellow coders out there familiar with ripping encrypted HLS streams? I've found a site that is using every protection in the book to prevent stream ripping and would love to chat
Can something similar be done on roku.com? I tried following your steps for this video https://therokuchannel.roku.com/watch/67ca18fb4816521db4f188855569c21e but I noticed the type is not hls but mp4. There was a file that started with index instead of ending with index but much more complex then the sample video used in the example above. Source: over 3 years ago

  • Unauthorized Roku charges through my Paypal account.
Easier said than done with an elderly parent, but have your mom go to roku.com, reset her password, and give you the password. Then you should be able to go in and remove any payment method (presumably your PayPal), cancel any subscriptions, etc. Source: over 3 years ago
