Revievv 7 features
Opalstack 5 features
  • 3D STEP/STL viewer in the browser
Open and inspect 3D CAD files directly in your browser. No CAD license, no plugins, no desktop software required. Works on Mobile as well.
  • Pin comments directly on 3D model
Click any point on a 3D model to pin a comment with exact visual context. No more describing "the corner on the left side."
  • PDF and image review
Review technical drawings, schematics and images with markup tools, distance and angle measurements — all in the browser.
  • Share review links
Send a link to anyone - suppliers, clients, teammates. They can view and comment without creating an account or paying for a seat.
  • Issue tracking with severity
Assign severity levels, set deadlines, track resolution status. Every comment becomes a trackable issue.
  • Export review as PDF
Generate a PDF report with all comments pinned on the model or drawing. Ready to share with stakeholders or archive.
  • Wire tracing on PDF
Click a line on an electrical schematic — the system highlights the entire connected circuit through connectors and branches. One click instead of tracing by eye.
  • Developer-Friendly Hosting
Opalstack is designed with developers in mind, offering SSH access, Git integration, and support for multiple programming languages and frameworks including Python, Node.js, Ruby, and PHP, giving developers granular control over their hosting environment.
  • Affordable Pricing
Opalstack offers competitive pricing for shared and managed hosting plans, making it an accessible option for small businesses, freelancers, and individual developers who need robust features without enterprise-level costs.
  • Modern Control Panel
Opalstack provides a clean, modern, and intuitive web-based dashboard for managing sites, applications, databases, and email accounts, which is a significant improvement over older-style hosting control panels like cPanel.
  • Strong Support for Multiple Applications
The platform supports a wide variety of application types including WordPress, Django, Flask, Express, static sites, and more, allowing users to host diverse projects on a single account with easy deployment.
  • Reliable Infrastructure and Support
Opalstack is built by former WebFaction team members, bringing experienced hosting expertise. They offer responsive customer support and a reputation for stable, well-managed server infrastructure with good uptime.

Possible disadvantages

  • Smaller Community and Ecosystem
Compared to major hosting providers like DigitalOcean, AWS, or even shared hosts like SiteGround, Opalstack has a smaller user base, which means fewer community tutorials, third-party guides, and forum discussions available for troubleshooting.
  • Limited Scalability Options
Opalstack is primarily a shared hosting provider, which means it may not be the best choice for high-traffic applications or projects that require rapid, on-demand scaling of resources like CPU, RAM, or storage.
  • Not Ideal for Beginners
While developer-friendly, Opalstack's approach can be intimidating for non-technical users. Setting up applications often requires familiarity with the command line and server configuration, which may not suit those looking for simple one-click solutions.
  • Limited Data Center Locations
Opalstack offers a relatively small number of data center locations compared to major cloud providers, which may result in higher latency for users targeting audiences in regions not well-served by the available server locations.
  • Fewer Managed Services and Add-ons
Unlike larger hosting platforms, Opalstack lacks a wide range of managed add-on services such as built-in CDN integration, managed backups with granular restore options, or one-click SSL management that more mainstream providers offer out of the box.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Revievv and Opalstack.

What makes your product unique?

Revievv's answer

Reviewers don't need a CAD license, an account, or any installed software. Just a link. Most design review tools charge per seat or require everyone to have CAD software. Revievv gives unlimited free reviewers on every plan - so your suppliers, clients and cross-functional teammates can give feedback without any barriers.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Revievv's answer

Some competitors costs six figures and takes months to deploy. Revievv starts at $0, works in 30 seconds, and does what engineering teams actually need: open a CAD file, pin comments on the 3D model, share a link, collect feedback. No procurement process, no IT department required.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Revievv's answer

Mechanical and electrical engineers in teams of 5-50 people — product design, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace. Engineers who send STEP files by email, mark up screenshots in PowerPoint, and lose feedback in chat threads. Also useful for engineering managers who need documented, traceable design reviews instead of meeting notes in Excel.

What's the story behind your product?

Revievv's answer

Built by an engineer with ADHD who got tired of the same broken design review process, also had problems with doing all those related topics — screenshots in PowerPoint, feedback lost in email threads, "see attachment page 3 top left corner." Every CAD collaboration tool was either enterprise-priced or view-only. Revievv fills the gap: real design review with 3D markup, simple enough to start in 30 seconds, affordable enough for a small team.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Revievv's answer

Three.js for 3D rendering, OpenCascade for STEP/STL geometry processing, Next.js for the web application, and cloud infrastructure for file conversion. Everything runs in the browser — no plugins or desktop installation needed.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Revievv's answer

Revievv is an early-stage product used by small and mid-size engineering teams. We're focused on onboarding our first 100 customers — teams that need fast, affordable design review without enterprise overhead.
