A few months ago one of my own projects went down for several hours without any alert. I only noticed after I had read about cloudflare outages, and indeed, my current monitoring provider was using cloudflare. I lost traffic and potential clients. That frustration was the last straw. I built ReturnPod to solve exactly that problem and provide me with a secondary monitoring system.
It started as a tool for my own sites and it's now growing into something I wanted to share with other non-techy site owners and indie builders who donโt want to deal with complicated monitoring platforms.

I've had a great time with statuscake.com for my personal and friends sites. They've even improved custom status pages to include an automatically signed certificate too, so you can make a site like status.yourdomain.com... Test TCP connection, specific HTTP/HTTPS query etc. 5 minute intervals for free, more with paid plans. Source: over 4 years ago
