ReportFlow is document-generation infrastructure for developers and AI agent workflows: an API-first, MCP-compatible cloud service for generating PDFs and Japanese business documents (invoices, statements, and other report-style forms) at scale.
Teams building AI agent pipelines, via Claude, n8n, Dify, or a custom MCP client, can connect directly to ReportFlow's remote MCP server. OAuth 2.0, PKCE, and Dynamic Client Registration are handled out of the box, so there is no local MCP server to install, configure, or keep running. Connect once, and generation happens in the cloud.
Under the hood, ReportFlow provides a browser-based, no-code template editor (built on Konva) for designing document layouts, plus a REST API supporting synchronous, asynchronous, and bulk PDF generation. A signed webhook (HMAC-SHA256) notifies your system when a job completes, with retry logic and SSRF protections built in.
ReportFlow exists because generating a PDF is easy to prototype but harder to operate long-term: CJK font embedding can bloat file sizes, headless-Chrome-based renderers are prone to memory leaks at scale, widely-used tools like wkhtmltopdf have reached end of life, and Japan-specific rules, such as invoice rounding under the Qualified Invoice System and electronic bookkeeping law requirements, add ongoing maintenance most teams would rather not own.
ReportFlow is listed on the official MCP Registry, Glama, Smithery, PulseMCP, and mcp.so, and ships a Verified n8n community node. Pricing starts with a free tier (30 files per month, one template, no credit card required), with Standard and Premium plans available for higher volume and additional templates.
Built and operated by Mone-pla Inc., a solo-founder company based in Shibuya, Tokyo.
PDFMonkey is your automation tool perfect for generating a high volume of PDFs. HTML to PDF with our restless API or with various automation tool such as Zapier, Make or Bubble. Link it with thousands of tools to automate your workflow and simplify your PDF management.

Report Flow's answer
ReportFlow combines a zero-setup remote MCP server with an API-first PDF generation service, designed for Japanese business documents. OAuth 2.0, PKCE, and Dynamic Client Registration are handled out of the box, so there is no local MCP server to install, configure, or keep running โ connect once from Claude, n8n, Dify, or any MCP client, and generation happens in the cloud. It also handles Japan-specific requirements such as CJK font embedding and invoice rounding under the Qualified Invoice System, which most generic PDF tools leave to you.
PDFMonkey's answer:
PDFMonkey is a simple PDF generation tool that can make your task easier with automated shipping labels, invoices or any other PDF hassle.
Report Flow's answer
Choose ReportFlow if you want document generation as managed infrastructure rather than a library you operate yourself. Self-hosted approaches mean owning CJK font bloat, headless-Chrome memory leaks, and end-of-life tools like wkhtmltopdf. ReportFlow offers a remote, zero-setup MCP server (no local process to run), a no-code browser template editor, a REST API with sync/async/bulk generation, signed webhooks (HMAC-SHA256) with retry logic, and a free tier of 30 files/month with no credit card required.
PDFMonkey's answer:
PDFMonkey is one of the oldest in the market but also one of the best tool giving advanced features and improved support on automation tools such as Zapier, Make and bubble.
Report Flow's answer
Developers and teams building AI agent workflows (Claude, n8n, Dify, or custom MCP clients) who need reliable PDF output, and SaaS/business-system builders who generate Japanese business documents โ invoices, statements, quotes, and other report-style forms โ at scale without maintaining their own PDF pipeline.
Report Flow's answer
ReportFlow was built by Mone-pla Inc., a solo-founder company in Shibuya, Tokyo. It exists because generating a PDF is easy to prototype but hard to operate long-term: CJK font embedding bloats file sizes, headless-Chrome renderers leak memory at scale, widely-used tools like wkhtmltopdf reached end of life, and Japan-specific rules (Qualified Invoice System rounding, electronic bookkeeping law) add maintenance most teams would rather not own. As AI agents started producing business data, the missing piece was turning that data into properly formatted documents โ so ReportFlow became the "last mile" that converts structured data into production-ready PDFs.
Report Flow's answer
TypeScript across the stack: React with Konva for the browser-based template editor (with real-time collaboration via Yjs), NestJS (Fastify) for the REST API, MySQL and Redis for data and caching, and AWS for infrastructure. The MCP server is published on npm (reportflow-mcp), and a Verified n8n community node (n8n-nodes-reportflow) is also available.

One of the first features I worked on when starting my career was AIM's pdf generation tool. It was time to migrate off of PDF monkey's SaaS product to our own solution. We had to figure a way of maintaining the same templates we used with PDF moneky but reverse engineering the server side logic, this was quite the challenge on it's own, we managed to eventually do it but ended up with a extra friction and huge... - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
