Import your full rental history from Sharegrid automatically, or log rentals as they come in. Rental IQ calculates ROI, payback period, and depreciation for every piece of equipment you own. See which gear earns the most, identify your best repeat renters, and track revenue trends over time.

Compare up to four pieces of equipment side by side, view your bookings on a calendar, and get detailed performance pages for each item in your inventory. Rental IQ is built by an equipment owner who needed these answers for his own rental business.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Rental IQ and Vim Python IDE.

What makes your product unique?

Rental IQ's answer

Rental IQ is built specifically for camera and equipment owners who rent their gear. Most rental software is designed for large rental houses with warehouses and staff. Rental IQ focuses on the solo owner or small operator who wants to understand how their gear is actually performing as a business.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Rental IQ's answer

Rental IQ is the only platform that combines rental tracking and scheduling with deep analytics like per-item ROI, depreciation, renter insights, and revenue trends. It also integrates directly with Sharegrid, so owners on that platform can import their full rental history instantly instead of entering everything manually.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Rental IQ's answer

Camera and equipment owners who rent out their gear on platforms like Sharegrid or directly to clients. This includes solo shooters renting a few cameras, owners scaling to 50 or more pieces of equipment, and small production companies managing gear across multiple projects.

What's the story behind your product?

Rental IQ's answer

Rental IQ was created by a Sharegrid equipment owner who wanted to understand whether his gear was actually making money. There was no good way to see which equipment was paying for itself, which renters were coming back, or how revenue was trending over time. So he built Rental IQ to answer those questions for himself and other owners in the same position.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Rental IQ's answer

Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase (PostgreSQL), Tailwind CSS, and Vercel.
