  1. Best cloud solution out there

We moved our services to Render and can't be happier!

The Best Cloud Hosting Providers for Elixir Phoenix
We followed the Deploy a Phoenix App with Mix Releases guide to deploy Phoenix and Postgres. First, we created our Phoenix app, updated for releases, added Render environment variable config, and added a Render-provided build script file. We had to refer to Phoenix Deployment with Distillery guide for database set up. Finally, we set up continuous deployment using Render’s...

  • How to ditch Neon
    1) Render.com currently offers postgres databases for $7 a month. The $7 instance is pretty weak as far as RAM and CPU, and their prices also get pretty unreasonable after that. However, this is a quick setup and cheaper alternative to Neon. - Source: dev.to / about 7 hours ago
  • Ask HN: Those of you who don't use AWS/Azure/GCP, what do you use for hosting?
I use Cloudflare Serverless for front end apps and Render for backend services. - Cloudflare [1] scales easily and has a lot of easy to use services like databases and storage buckets, JAM Stack front end pages, and CDN services for images and videos. - Render [2] has been great for us to spin up Python services quickly. I haven't worked with a production load on Render, but I hear good things :) [1]... - Source: Hacker News / 1 day ago
  • Deploying Forem on Render.com PromptZone.com
The journey of deploying an open-source software platform like forem can be complex and daunting, but with the right tools and services, it can also be remarkably rewarding. What framework or service are you using to pre-render your content? Check out https://nuxt.com and https://prerender.io if you're not using something like this already. Source: about 1 year ago
  • What are the challenges of creating a search engine friendly website in React?
The best option is going to be using SSR using Next.js/Vite SSR/similar as others have mentioned. If you do want to stick to an SPA though (vanilla React + Vite/CRA), make sure your meta tags are set dynamically, and you can definitely pre-render (using prerender.io for example) as well. • What are the challenges of creating a search engine friendly website in React?
If you don't go with Next, you'll want to make sure that you're properly setting all your page titles, meta descriptions, and tags with something like react-helmet (or whatever the newer fork of it is called) and prerendering with prerender.io or something. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Is there a workaround for a client side react app and search engine indexing?
Thank you for the comment. I'll investigate prerender.io. I think we'll most likely change the architecture, but if we continued the developers recommended next.js. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Is there a workaround for a client side react app and search engine indexing?
Depending on how many pages you have, that can get expensive. You can get around the cost by implementing prerender.io as a stopgap (to start getting your pages indexed again -- this can take precious time) and then work your way towards a node instance that handles the static rendering for you. There are lots of tutorials on this, but they depend on which instance of React you're working in. Source: about 1 year ago
