Getting a remodeling estimate used to mean calling three contractors, waiting a week for callbacks, and sitting through sales pitches before you even knew if the project fit your budget. Or you'd Google "how much does a kitchen remodel cost" and get a national average that told you almost nothing...

RemodelFinder's answer
It was built by one software engineer who got tired of vague estimates and national averages that meant nothing locally. The same kitchen remodel costs about twice as much in Honolulu as in Wichita Falls, and no free tool showed that. So public data became the answer: Zillow home values, BLS wages, Census housing data, and Cost vs. Value benchmarks, combined into local estimates for 26,000+ ZIP codes. It started with Illinois and now covers all 50 states, with the underlying city cost index published as open data.
RemodelFinder's answer
RemodelFinder's answer
It answers cost questions at the ZIP code level, not with national averages. Every estimate is built from public data for your specific market: Zillow home values for your ZIP, BLS construction wages for your metro, and Cost vs. Value resale benchmarks. And alongside the price you get an ROI score showing what the project returns at resale, seasonal timing guidance, and local permit activity. No other free tool combines those in one place.
RemodelFinder's answer
Most cost sites do one of two things: show you a national average that means nothing in your market, or make you hand over your phone number so contractors can start calling. RemodelFinder does neither. You get a localized number in seconds, free, with no account and no lead funnel. The methodology is public, every data source is named, and you can check the math yourself.
RemodelFinder's answer
US homeowners in the planning stage of a remodel, before they talk to a contractor. They want to know what the project should cost in their area, whether it is worth doing financially, and when to book. Real estate agents advising sellers on pre-listing improvements use it too, and journalists and researchers use the open dataset behind it.
