RegDossier is an independent publication covering EU regulatory compliance for mid-sized companies, built around eight free interactive tools. The NIS2 Applicability Checker answers whether the directive covers your company and whether you fall in the essential or important category. The AI Act Risk Classifier walks through Annex III and Article 6 to classify your system, and the Fines Calculator shows maximum exposure under Article 99. The set also includes a DORA gap assessment, a deadline tracker spanning eight regulations, a regulation comparison matrix, a compliance cost estimator and an AI Act readiness quiz. Every calculation carries a citation to the specific Article it comes from, so the maths can be checked against EUR-Lex. Where penalties vary by member state, the tools say so rather than showing a single EU-wide figure. No signup, no cookies, nothing stored. A fortnightly newsletter covers what changed and why it matters.

Analysis of CppDB - SQL Connectivity Library

Overall verdict

  • CppDB is a solid, lightweight choice for developers needing a portable C++ SQL database access layer, especially if they are already using CppCMS or prefer a simple, low-overhead alternative to heavier ORM frameworks.

Why this product is good

  • Provides a database-agnostic API similar to Python's DB-API or JDBC, making it easy to switch between backends like SQLite, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and ODBC.
  • Lightweight and fast with minimal dependencies, avoiding the overhead of larger ORM frameworks.
  • Supports connection pooling and prepared statements for efficient and secure database operations.
  • Open-source and free to use, with a permissive license suitable for both personal and commercial projects.
  • Well-integrated with the CppCMS framework, making it a natural choice for web applications built on that stack.
  • Simple, clean API design that is relatively easy to learn for developers familiar with C++.

Recommended for

  • Developers building C++ web applications, especially those using CppCMS.
  • Projects requiring lightweight database connectivity without the overhead of full ORM systems.
  • Applications needing to support multiple SQL database backends with minimal code changes.
  • Developers who prefer explicit SQL control over abstracted query builders.
  • Small to medium-sized projects where simplicity and performance are prioritized over advanced ORM features.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing RegDossier.eu and CppDB - SQL Connectivity Library.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

RegDossier.eu's answer

Plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, no framework and no third-party scripts.

What makes your product unique?

RegDossier.eu's answer

Every calculation carries a citation to the specific Article it comes from. A compliance officer can open the tool, read the result, and check the maths against EUR-Lex without taking our word for it. Where penalties vary by member state, as they do under NIS2 and DORA, the tools say so instead of showing a single EU-wide number that does not exist.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

RegDossier.eu's answer

Most tools in this space are lead magnets. They ask for an email, produce a generic score, and route the result to a sales team. These are free, need no signup, store nothing, and end with a link to a fortnightly newsletter rather than a call with an account executive. They also answer the question people actually have, which is whether a regulation applies to them at all, before the question of how to comply.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

RegDossier.eu's answer

Compliance officers, DPOs, risk managers and COOs at EU companies with roughly 50 to 1,000 employees. They are not lawyers. They usually cover several regulations at once with a small team or alone, and they need to know whether something is in scope before they need to know how to implement it. Smaller companies without a compliance function use the tools for the same reason, usually a founder or COO who has been handed the file.

What's the story behind your product?

RegDossier.eu's answer

RegDossier is a editorial project covering eight EU regulations. The tools came first because the questions readers were searching for, such as whether NIS2 applies to them or what the AI Act fines actually are, were being answered with 3,000-word articles when a two-minute checker does the job better. The rule from the start was that no number goes into a tool unless it can be traced to an Article in the Official Journal text.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

RegDossier.eu's answer

The tools are free and anonymous, with no accounts and no tracking, so we do not know who uses them. RegDossier is an editorial publication rather than a vendor.
