  • Cross-Platform Sync
The app supports synchronization across multiple devices, allowing users to access their recipes on smartphones, tablets, and computers seamlessly.
  • Recipe Import Features
Users can easily import recipes from various online sources, streamlining the process of building a comprehensive recipe collection.
  • Meal Planning and Shopping Lists
Recipe Keeper includes meal planning and shopping list capabilities, aiding users in managing their meals and grocery shopping effectively.
  • Customization Options
The application allows for substantial customization in organizing recipes, including categories, tags, and personalized notes.

Possible disadvantages of Recipe Keeper

  • Cost
Recipe Keeper requires a purchase for the full version, which might deter users seeking a completely free solution.
  • Feature Limitations in Free Version
The free version of Recipe Keeper is limited in terms of storage and feature availability, potentially restricting functionality for users who do not upgrade.
  • Initial Learning Curve
Although user-friendly, new users may experience an initial learning curve when first exploring all the features and capabilities of the app.
  • Syncing Issues
Some users have reported occasional issues with synchronization across devices, which can result in delayed updates or inconsistencies.

startbase.dev features and specs

  • Faster project setup
Startbase.dev appears designed to help developers and founders quickly scaffold new projects with pre-built templates and boilerplate code, saving significant time compared to starting from scratch.
  • Focus on startups/MVPs
The platform seems tailored toward entrepreneurs and indie developers who want to launch minimum viable products quickly, which can be valuable for validating ideas without heavy upfront investment.
  • Modern tech stack
Such starter kits typically integrate current, popular frameworks and tools (e.g., Next.js, Tailwind, authentication, payments), reducing the need to research and configure these integrations manually.
  • Reduced boilerplate maintenance
By using a pre-built base, developers can avoid reinventing common features like user authentication, billing, and dashboards, letting them focus on unique business logic instead.
  • Potential cost savings
Compared to hiring a development team to build core infrastructure from scratch, using a starter template service can be more affordable for solo founders or small teams with limited budgets.

Possible disadvantages of startbase.dev

  • Limited customization flexibility
Pre-built starter kits and boilerplates often come with opinionated architecture and design choices that can be difficult or time-consuming to modify for highly specific or unconventional use cases.
  • Vendor/template lock-in risk
Relying on a specific boilerplate structure may create dependencies on certain libraries, patterns, or update cycles that could complicate long-term maintenance if the base template becomes outdated.
  • Learning curve for the specific stack
If the chosen tech stack differs from what a developer is familiar with, there may still be a learning curve to understand and effectively customize the starter codebase.
  • Uncertain long-term support
As a smaller or newer platform, there may be concerns about the longevity of updates, community support, and documentation compared to more established open-source alternatives.
  • Pricing transparency concerns
Depending on the pricing model, users may find costs less transparent or harder to justify compared to free, open-source boilerplates available elsewhere in the developer community.

  • Recipe app recommendations?
I love RecipeKeeper. I believe it is very similar to Paprika and I think you can try both for free. They are NOT subscription based, so their prices are both damn low and worth it. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Can anyone compare experiences with Copy Me That and Paprika?
Just to add to the mix, Recipe Keeper is very similar to Paprika. I think they each have one or two things the other doesn't. You need to pay for each device it's on, but it's not a lot of money and the sync is perfect. You should be able to free trial it. https://recipekeeperonline.com/. Source: over 3 years ago
  • How does one create a cookbook? softwares or applications?
I'd suggest taking a look at Recipe Keeper. There may be a free trial for X time or X number of recipes. But it's only about $5 per device. It's a fantastic way to capture and save recipes and it has a feature to create cookbooks from it. You can create a pdf for easy printing and sharing. It even has OCR (optical character recognition) so if you have old recipes from magazines or in cookbooks, you just take a... Source: over 3 years ago
  • Best app to store recipes?
I'm a huge fan of Recipe Keeper. I believe it and Paprika are very similar and everyone seems to love them both. They aren't free, but they are reasonably priced. I know Recipe Keeper is not subscription priced - it's one time only. Source: over 3 years ago
  • How do you keep recipes?
What I use now is an app called Recipe Keeper. It's easy to use and I haven't found any glitches in the code. You can import recipes straight from the web, or photos. You can share links to the recipe(s), grocery lists, and meal planning schedules, via email or text. And you can transfer your profile from one phone to another. There is a trial version where you get a limited number of recipes. And a full-featured... Source: almost 4 years ago
