What is this? A little cat that helps you pick professionally designed templates. Just joking! It means "templates by categories".

When doing web design for clients (eg. a dentist website), I often need to compare templates across different website builders. Jumping between platforms was really annoying, so I made this tool.

Where are the templates from Framer Webflow Squarespace (Will add Figma Sites and Readymag later, I guess 10k+ templates in the future)

What are the features? High quality templates - I only choose from website builder products where they hire professional designers. Browse by categories/features/styles - eg. find "portfolio" or "minimalist" templates On-page preview + device switching - directly see desktop/tablet/mobile effects Website builder pricing listed - easy to compare costs (Coming soon: pricing range filters, merge similar tags) Simply put: saves time jumping between different platforms to find templates.

React Engine features and specs

  • Isomorphic rendering
React Engine enables both server-side and client-side rendering of React components, providing a seamless isomorphic/universal JavaScript experience. This allows for faster initial page loads and better SEO while maintaining rich client-side interactivity.
  • Express.js integration
React Engine is designed as a view engine for Express.js, making it easy to integrate React into existing Express-based applications with minimal configuration. It follows familiar Express conventions for setting up view engines.
  • Built-in React Router support
The library comes with built-in support for React Router, enabling developers to easily set up server-side and client-side routing without complex manual configuration.
  • PayPal backing
React Engine was developed and maintained by PayPal, which provided credibility and ensured it was battle-tested in a large-scale production environment before being open-sourced.
  • Simplified setup
The library abstracts away much of the complexity involved in setting up server-side rendering with React, reducing boilerplate code and allowing developers to get a universal React application running quickly.

Possible disadvantages of React Engine

  • Abandoned project
The repository appears to be no longer actively maintained, with no recent commits or updates. This makes it risky to use in production as bugs and security vulnerabilities may go unpatched.
  • Outdated dependencies
React Engine was built for older versions of React and React Router. It may not be compatible with modern versions of React (16+, 17, 18) or React Router (v5, v6), limiting its usefulness in current projects.
  • Limited ecosystem support
The library is tightly coupled to Express.js, meaning it cannot be easily used with other Node.js frameworks like Koa, Hapi, or Fastify, reducing its flexibility.
  • Better modern alternatives
Modern tools like Next.js, Remix, and Vite with SSR plugins provide far more comprehensive and well-maintained solutions for server-side rendering with React, making React Engine largely obsolete.
  • Limited documentation and community
The project has relatively sparse documentation and a small community, making it difficult for new developers to troubleshoot issues or find examples and best practices for advanced use cases.

TemplateCat.net features and specs

  • Free Templates
TemplateCat.net offers a variety of free templates that users can download and use without having to pay, making it accessible for individuals and small businesses on a budget.
  • Variety of Categories
The site provides templates across multiple categories such as business, resume, invoice, and other document types, giving users a range of options to choose from for different needs.
  • Easy to Browse
The website has a straightforward layout that allows users to quickly browse and find templates without a complicated navigation structure.
  • Downloadable Formats
Templates are typically available in popular file formats such as Word, Excel, or PDF, making them compatible with commonly used software applications.
  • No Account Required
Users can often access and download templates without needing to create an account or go through a lengthy registration process, saving time and effort.

Possible disadvantages of TemplateCat.net

  • Limited Design Quality
Some templates on the site may appear basic or outdated compared to premium template providers, which could be a drawback for users seeking polished, professional designs.
  • Low Brand Recognition
TemplateCat.net is not a widely known or established platform, which may raise concerns about reliability, trustworthiness, and the long-term availability of the site.
  • Limited Customization Guidance
The site may lack detailed tutorials or instructions on how to customize templates, leaving less experienced users without adequate support to modify templates to their needs.
  • Potential for Ads and Pop-ups
As a free template site, it may rely on advertising revenue, which can lead to intrusive ads or pop-ups that detract from the user experience during browsing and downloading.
  • Uncertain Update Frequency
It is unclear how frequently new templates are added or existing ones are updated, meaning the selection may become stale or not keep up with modern design trends.

Analysis of React Engine

Overall verdict

  • Unable to verify a project specifically named 'React Engine' on GitHub with confidence, as this does not correspond to a widely recognized or well-documented open-source project that I have reliable information about. There may be multiple small or niche repositories using this name, and quality would vary significantly between them.

Why this product is good

  • React Engine is not a commonly recognized name in the mainstream React ecosystem
  • No verifiable consensus data on stars, maintenance status, documentation quality, or community adoption is available
  • Could refer to a personal project, a boilerplate, a rendering engine, or a niche tool - without more context, its quality cannot be assessed
  • Names like this are sometimes used for student projects, abandoned repos, or experimental tools that lack production readiness

Recommended for

  • Not recommended without further verification
  • Developers should search GitHub directly, check star count, last commit date, open issues, and documentation before adopting
  • Best suited for evaluation on a case-by-case basis rather than a blanket recommendation
  • If you have a specific repository URL, sharing it would allow for a more accurate assessment

Analysis of TemplateCat.net

Overall verdict

  • I don't have verified, up-to-date information about TemplateCat.net specifically, so I can't confirm its legitimacy, quality, or reputation with confidence. Before using it, especially for any purchase, I'd recommend independently verifying the site.

Why this product is good

  • I don't have reliable data on this specific domain's track record, ownership, or user reviews
  • Template marketplaces vary widely in quality, licensing terms, and customer support, so claims should be verified directly
  • Newer or lesser-known template sites can sometimes have issues with copyright, outdated code, or poor support

Recommended for

  • Anyone considering this site should first check recent user reviews on independent platforms
  • Verify SSL certificate, business registration, and refund/support policies before purchasing
  • Look for sample downloads or a portfolio to assess actual template quality and code standards
  • Consider comparing with well-established marketplaces like ThemeForest, TemplateMonster, or Creative Market for reliability
