Quidworth's answer
Quidworth starts from the household budget spreadsheet people already keep, rather than asking them to adopt a new system. You enter one month - income, bills, standing transfers - and it rolls forward automatically, so a single change like a mortgage overpayment instantly redraws twenty years of cash flow and net worth. It is also built natively for UK rules rather than adapted from a US product: stamp duty, ISA allowances, pension annual allowance and drawdown, and Coast FIRE are first-class features, not approximations.
Quidworth's answer
Most budgeting tools are backward-looking: they categorise what you already spent. Quidworth is forward-looking - it projects what your household's money does over the next twenty years given the decisions you make now. YNAB and Emma are excellent at tracking and envelope budgeting, but do not model decades ahead. Quicken and PocketSmith do forecast, but their tax, pension and property assumptions are built for the US and Australasia. MoneyHub aggregates UK accounts well; Quidworth focuses on the projection and planning layer instead. It is also free, so there is no subscription decision to make before finding out whether the projections are useful to you.
Quidworth's answer
UK households who already take their money seriously enough to keep a budget spreadsheet, and have hit its limits. In practice that is three overlapping groups: people weighing a mortgage decision (overpay, remortgage, or move) who want to see the twenty-year consequence; people building towards FIRE or Coast FIRE who need UK pension and ISA rules modelled properly rather than US 401(k) assumptions; and couples doing an annual household review who want one view of cash flow and net worth instead of six browser tabs of single-purpose calculators.
Quidworth's answer
It started as a personal household budget spreadsheet that got rebuilt every year and broke every year. A single month's worksheet is easy to keep honest; twelve copies of it are not, and neither answers the question that actually matters - what does this decision look like in twenty years? Quidworth was built to close that gap: keep the familiar monthly worksheet, but let it roll forward on its own and carry UK mortgage, ISA and pension rules with it.
