qrgeno began with a friendship built through years of collaboration. Jonas and his co-founder first met in 2019 while working as consultants on the same client project. They were on different teams, but regular lunch conversations turned into idea-sharing, trust, and a shared way of thinking.
After the contract ended, the friendship continued. From 2020 to 2024, they spent weekends building side projects, contributing to open source, and experimenting with ideas. Most of those projects never shipped, but each one taught them how they liked to work together and what kind of products they wanted to build.
The spark for qrgeno came in December 2025, when Jonas scanned a printed QR code at a cafรฉ and landed on a dead URL. Someone had paid to print a code that no longer worked. That simple moment exposed a bigger problem: printed QR codes are everywhere, but they often break, become outdated, or lack flexibility.
That night, the idea for qrgeno was born โ dynamic QR codes powered by a real rules engine.
In 2026, the team built qrgeno through the spring, combining dynamic QR code management, smart routing rules, analytics, and print partnerships. The result is a platform designed to make offline touch-points as flexible, measurable, and intelligent as digital ones.
