    I use qimgv, It's mostly frameless (It only has a window bar), supports going left and right through images, even sorted by date and even on a directory with 80k+ files in it.     I don't know exactly what you mean by "nothing", but JPEG XL is already supported for almost all image viewers on Linux installing the libjxl plugin system wide, and on Windows good image viewers like XnView, IrfanView e my personal favorite qimgv, and all most used browsers already supports jpeg xl, however is not enable by default and you need to enable it in the hide settings, but I agree that you probably will...
