Though I do not register at all on the leader board I will sometimes work obsessively on a problem just to make one of the level icons light up for me. I do hobby programing. It is sometimes to create something (supposedly) useful. Lately though it is more discovery and a little math like. I enjoy Project Euler (https://projecteuler.net/. Syncfusion https://syncfusion.com/ also has a free community edition of professional controls for asp net core, react, angular etc. There are also sample projects there which have good visual appeal to them but you can still learn. Source: over 2 years ago
