Souva answers one question: what can I make with what I have? You build a pantry by typing, by scanning a barcode, by photographing a shelf, or by scanning a grocery receipt, which is read on the device. Souva then searches the web for real recipes and ranks them by how much of each one is...

Souva's answer:
Souva starts from your kitchen instead of from a dish. You tell it what you actually have by typing, barcode, a photo of a shelf, or a scan of a grocery receipt, and it ranks real recipes from around the web by how much of each one you already own. Missing items are listed plainly up front, and staples like salt and oil count as things you have, so the match reflects a real kitchen rather than a checklist. The receipt scan is the part nothing else does: one photo of a shopping trip fills the pantry in a few seconds, and it is read on the device.
Souva's answer:
Because getting your ingredients in is the part that decides whether you keep using an app like this. Most pantry-first tools ask you to tick items off a long list, and people abandon that within a week. Souva gives you four ways in, including a photo and a receipt. It also links out to the site that wrote each recipe rather than reprinting it, sets diets and allergies once and explains why a recipe fits, and keeps your pantry on your device with no account to create. When nothing fits, SouvAI writes a recipe from exactly what is on your shelves.
Souva's answer:
Home cooks who already have food in the kitchen and do not want to shop again to use it. In practice that is people cooking on a budget, people trying to waste less, and anyone who opens a full fridge and still cannot think of dinner. It is not a meal-planning app for people who plan a week in advance, and it does not sell ingredients.
Souva's answer:
The recipe web is organized by dish, so a fridge full of odds and ends returns a shopping list instead of a dinner. Souva was built to answer the question people actually ask, which is what can I make with what I have. It is a solo project by Ryan Jensen under Souva LLC, shipped on iOS and Android in June 2026, and it stays free with no account because the question should not cost anything to ask.
