Holocron is an open source docs site generator that runs as a Vite plugin in your own repo. You write MDX, put navigation in docs.json, and host the build on Vercel, Cloudflare, Node, or anywhere. Docs maintenance can run in GitHub Actions when source files change.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Holocron's answer:

Closed docs platforms keep pages in their cloud. Holocron stays in your codebase. Same docs.json and MDX also work as a Mintlify drop-in, so you can leave a hosted docs platform without a rewrite.

Documentation maintenance is not an off-the-shelf hosted product. Holocron started as a Vite plugin so you can build delightful docs websites locally, keep MDX in git, and update pages from GitHub Actions with OIDC.

Vite, MDX, TypeScript, React, and a docs.json config. Search uses Orama. You can host the output on Vercel, Cloudflare Workers, or Node.
