I recently launched PPT.AI after a journey that began with workplace frustration and led to an AI-powered presentation solution.
Origins in Workplace Frustration
At my previous company, I spent countless hours creating presentations weekly. For one important client proposal, I pulled two consecutive all-nighters. Though successful, I wondered: "Why, in 2025, are we still creating presentations in such a primitive way?"
From Rough Demo to Validation
I built a simple command-line tool during weekends that could generate basic slide content from outlines. Despite its limitations, colleagues who tested it were enthusiastic:
"This already saves me at least half my time." "If you added automatic chart generation, I'd pay for this."
This unexpected validation made me consider turning it into a real product.
Securing the Perfect Domain
As the project gained momentum, "PPT.AI" seemed the perfect name. I discovered someone was selling the ppt.ai domain and, after negotiation, purchased it at a reasonable price. It was a significant investment for a side project, but I believed in its potential. Now, https://ppt.ai is our home, and I'm hoping the product's success will justify the domain investment.
Building a Team
I realized this project required expertise beyond my own. I recruited three friends with complementary skills: a machine learning expert, a UI/UX designer, and a backend developer. Together, we tackled four key challenges:
Intelligent Content Generation for different industries and topics
Layout and Design Awareness for visual consistency
Automated Data Visualization
User-Friendly Interface for non-technical users
Market Traction
Three months later, we launched our MVP at ppt.ai. Early users reported a 65% reduction in presentation creation time, with satisfaction scores of 8.7/10.
