Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Pixel Habit Tracker and Nullstack.

What makes your product unique?

Pixel Habit Tracker's answer

Pixel Habit Tracker is the first Android habit application designed from the ground up to fully embrace Googleโ€™s Material 3 Expressive (M3E) design language.

Its uniqueness lies in two core innovations:

  • Dynamic Tonal Seed Engine: Rather than forcing static branding, the entire application dynamically shifts its primary colors, accents, container fills, and borders based on the user's selected seed color.
  • Frequency-Aware Contextual Streaks: Traditional trackers break active streaks on un-targeted calendar days. Pixel evaluates streaks contextually based on the habitโ€™s specific scheduled target days (e.g., Mon, Wed, Fri), meaning you are never penalized for days you never intended to log.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Pixel Habit Tracker's answer

Users choose Pixel Habit Tracker for its focus on four key pillars:

  • Absolute Privacy (Offline-First): All time-series data and habit logs are saved locally on-device in a secure local database. There are no server uploads, no cloud accounts, and zero tracking.
  • 100% Free & Ad-Free: There are no subscriptions, no monthly paywalls, and absolutely no intrusive banner adsโ€”just pure focus for your routines.
  • Immersive Visual Excellence: Built natively for Android with edge-to-edge transparent system bars,Outfit typography, organic squircle borders, and tactile micro-interactions that feel incredibly premium compared to generic hybrid cross-platform apps.
  • Data Sovereignty: Full data portability with built-in CSV exports and a functional "Delete All Data" path in settings.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Pixel Habit Tracker's answer

The primary audience consists of:

  • Design Enthusiasts & Android Purists: Users who appreciate premium native user interfaces, custom widgets, clean typography, and Google's latest Material Design specifications.
  • Privacy-Conscious Individuals: People who refuse to upload their daily personal routines to cloud servers and demand local-only data control.
  • Productivity Builders: Everyday achievers looking for a distraction-free, clean utility to build morning habits, workout splits, or learning routines.

What's the story behind your product?

Pixel Habit Tracker's answer

Pixel Habit Tracker was built by Eden Kollรงinaku (Pixel.al) in Tirana, Albania.

The project was born out of frustration with the current state of productivity appsโ€”which are often filled with subscriptions, login walls, invasive analytics, and clunky cross-platform interfaces. Eden set out to design a pure, native utility that serves as both a benchmark for high-fidelity Material 3 design and a testament to independent, user-respecting indie development.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Pixel Habit Tracker's answer

The application is built native to Android using the following modern stack:

  • Language: Kotlin + Kotlin Coroutines & Flow for reactive, non-blocking asynchronous data streams.
  • User Interface: Jetpack Compose (Material 3) utilizing a custom dynamic tonal palette engine.
  • Database & Persistence: Room DB (SQLite) for transactional habit logs and DataStore/SharedPreferences for configuration state.
  • Architecture: Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) + clean Repository patterns.
  • Build Systems: Gradle (Kotlin DSL), Version Catalogs (BOM), and KSP.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Pixel Habit Tracker's answer

Because Pixel Habit Tracker is a 100% free, consumer-facing productivity utility with zero ads and zero enterprise contracts, its "customers" are its diverse global community of individuals.

Its key user cohorts include:

  • Android design and customization enthusiasts on the Google Play Store
  • Privacy-conscious individuals tracking sensitive personal routines offline
  • Everyday habits builders seeking a paywall-free tracker workspace
  • Open-source, indie-developer, and privacy advocates who support clean software
