Pilot Protocol is one option that fits this specifically: every agent gets a permanent virtual address (so it's addressable even after an IP change or restart), the transport is an encrypted UDP tunnel with STUN + hole-punching + relay fallback for NAT traversal, and pub/sub sits on top of that โ an agent subscribes to a topic once and gets pushed messages over the tunnel it already has open, instead of re-polling... - Source: dev.to / about 1 month ago
Instead of exposing an inbound webhook endpoint, give the agent a permanent outbound tunnel that the other side can reach it through โ regardless of NAT, IP changes, or restarts. Tailscale is how every machine in the stack is reachable from outside the local network. All four machines are on the same Tailnet, which means I can reach any service from anywhere without opening ports or maintaining a VPN server. - Source: dev.to / about 2 months ago
Still the most reliable setup, honestly. SSH into your machine over Tailscale (or Mosh if your connection is rubbish), reattach your tmux session, carry on. Free, works everywhere, been around forever. The downside is it's all terminal and you need to know your way around. Not exactly mobile-friendly either. Typing SSH commands on a phone keyboard is proper painful. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
