• Has anyone ever tried using facial recognition software on photos of unknown ancestors, maybe comparing to photos of known ancestors, to try and determine who the unknown ones are? If not, how can I get started on that?

  You can try it here https://pictriev.com//. I found that it works best if the compared faces are in the same orientation. Mustaches can mess it up. Strangers can match at 75% but if you get a 90% match that is good evidence. Source: about 4 years ago
