FlashFX is a browser-based motion graphics and animation editor, essentially an accessible, web-native alternative to Adobe After Effects. You've been building it for roughly two years through four complete rebuilds, and it's now a two-product suite.
The original product. A timeline-based animation editor that runs entirely in the browser, targeting motion designers, content creators, and developers who need to produce animated graphics without the complexity or cost of After Effects. Core capabilities include:
| Tier | Model |
|---|---|
| Free | Core features, limited exports |
| Ultra | Subscription, full feature access |
| Teams | Per-seat pricing for collaborative workflows |
| 3D Engine | One-time unlock add-on |
FlashFX sits at the intersection of accessibility and power, it wants to be what Canva is to Photoshop, but for motion graphics. The browser-based approach eliminates installation friction, makes collaboration easier, and opens the tool to a global audience that can't afford or learn After Effects. The marketplace and creator ecosystem give it a platform flywheel beyond just being a tool.

FlashFX's answer:
FlashFX runs entirely in the browser with no installation, no plugins, and no OS dependency. It combines a professional-grade timeline, 3D rendering, expressions, and a marketplace in one tool, at a fraction of After Effects' cost. The custom .ffx format and neural-network-driven animation features push it beyond a simple web clone into genuinely new territory.
FlashFX's answer:
FlashFX removes every barrier that makes After Effects inaccessible: price, installation, hardware requirements, and a steep learning curve. It delivers comparable core features in a browser tab, with a cleaner interface, a built-in asset marketplace, and a pricing model that doesn't lock professionals and beginners into the same expensive subscription.
FlashFX's answer:
The primary audience is motion designers, content creators, and UI/UX designers who need professional animation tools but are priced out of or intimidated by Adobe's ecosystem. This includes freelancers, indie studios, social media creators, and developers building animated assets for web and app interfaces.
FlashFX's answer:
FlashFX started as a personal project built out of frustration with the existing landscape of animation tools. After Effects is powerful but expensive, complex, and desktop-only. Browser-based alternatives were either too simple or poorly engineered. Over roughly two years and four complete rebuilds, FlashFX evolved from a rough prototype into a two-product suite with over 15,000 users, a 3,400-member Discord community, and a growing waitlist, all without any paid marketing. Each rebuild wasn't failure, it was refinement, progressively closing the gap between what the web could do and what professionals actually needed. The decision to go browser-native, use a custom binary format, and invest in 3D rendering were all unconventional bets that paid off through traction, not theory.
FlashFX's answer:
FlashFX is built in TypeScript and React for the editor layer, Three.js for 3D rendering, and a custom binary format (.ffx) for project files. Animation tooling draws influence from Theatre.js. Neural network research using Sprecher Networks powers audio-driven animation and motion curve learning features.
FlashFX's answer:
FlashFX is currently pre-revenue, so there are no paying customers yet. However, the platform has 1,200 active beta users and 2,000 waitlist sign-ups, all acquired organically, which signals strong demand ahead of any formal commercial launch.
