That question stuck around long enough that I decided to just build my own version, one where the answer to that question is always "nowhere but my own server.

Node.js and Express for the backend, with pdf-lib handling most PDF operations natively. LibreOffice and poppler-utils power the Office and image conversions. The frontend is plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — no framework. Nginx serves everything in production, with Let's Encrypt for HTTPS.
