Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Paperless EDMS and ContractDecoder.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

ContractDecoder's answer:

ContractDecoder is a good fit for freelancers, small business owners, creators, consultants, and small teams who want a practical first pass on an agreement without learning a legal-tech platform. The output is organized around what the user needs to understand, check, ask, and discuss before signing or replying. It is also free during early access.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

ContractDecoder's answer:

ContractDecoder is for freelancers, consultants, creators, small business owners, and small teams reviewing client agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, service agreements, lease agreements, or project terms. It is especially useful when someone wants a clearer starting point before going back to the other side or seeking professional review.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

ContractDecoder's answer:

ContractDecoder is a web application built with JavaScript and hosted on Netlify, with Supabase for authentication and saved workspaces, and OpenAI-powered analysis for contract review outputs.

What makes your product unique?

ContractDecoder's answer:

ContractDecoder is built for the moment before someone signs or replies to a contract. It does not just summarize the document. It turns the agreement into a plain-English workspace with key terms, obligations, deadlines, review items, practical questions, possible clarifying wording, and a draft email the user can edit before responding.

What's the story behind your product?

ContractDecoder's answer:

ContractDecoder was built around a simple problem: many people are expected to review contracts before signing, but they do not always have the time, budget, or legal background to turn dense contract language into practical questions. The goal is to help users move from "I am not sure what this means" to "Here is what I need to ask."

  • ๐Ÿ”Underrated Open Source Projects You Should Know About ๐Ÿง
Paperless-ngx is the successor to the original Paperless & Paperless-ng projects, both of which are now in public archive. The original projects are not dead, but rather, continued through the open source community! - Source: dev.to / over 2 years ago
  • Paperless-Ngx v2.0.0
I don't know if it has a specific meaning. There have been multiple forks: paperless (https://github.com/the-paperless-project/paperless). - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Alternative paperless-ng
Yes, I know that project. Paperless-ng is actually a fork of paperless project. I borrowed many great ideas from both projects. Unfortunately both projects are now archived (paperless-ng is not officially archived, but in last 6 months there was no development, as it looks to me that main developer lost interest in the project). • Can someone recommend me a decent cheap document scanner?
I have a Brother ADS-1700W, works fine, a little fiddly to set up the profiles for one touch scanning but once it's done it's fine. I set up a workflow with https://github.com/the-paperless-project/paperless that lets me scan straight into OCR. https://github.com/jonaswinkler/paperless-ng is the fork that I'm going to upgrade to in my CFT. • Why aren't more developers maintaining their own Flatpaks?
I'm a dev with 20+ years of experience behind me and about 12 years of Python. I'm pretty accomplished in this space with a few projects [under]() my belt. I'm also having an absolutely miserable time trying to package my latest project with Flatpak. Source: about 5 years ago
