I've used https://pairdrop.net/ before to share files between devices on the same LAN. It obviously wouldn't have to be a website, but it's pretty convenient since all my devices I wanted to share files on already have a browser. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
The thing that usually annoys me about these services is that they tend to give you an intractably complex URL to share with the recipient. This poses a problem because almost every time I need such a P2P transfer, Iโm communication with someone over a phone and they need the file on their computer. https://file.pizza does this better than most, as the URL consists of real words. I keep a long list of browser based and CLI p2p file transfer tools[1]. LimeWire (which now has its crypto currency probably) has been on a rampage recently aquiring some of really good tools including ShareDrop and SnapDrop. https://pairdrop.net/ is the last one standing so far. If the constraint is that you don't want to install any software, there are a bunch of these web based AirDrop clones, besides the ones mentioned here are two more: https://pairdrop.net/ https://snapdrop.net/ I've tried PairDrop, it works well. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
With regard to encryption tools, I use AxCrypt, which is cross-platform, but isn't free in that form. It would though encrypt each file in-place, without need for a dedicated folder or vault and encrypted file will sync with OneDrive, via the standard sync client. It would also allow you to share encrypted files with others, without giving them your encryption password. Source: almost 4 years ago
