Ask yourself the tough question: why am I trying to make a brand new repo and get people to look at that vs. Contributing to an existing repo that already has momentum? https://ossinsight.io/ And there are tiers within all the repos there. You can find small niche ones and make PRs with your ideas. Much more likely to get use. - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
Recently I found out about the OSS Insight online data tool (https://ossinsight.io/). Seeing as I've wanted, and tried myself, to track such information I found it interesting how well they manage to gather and present the info. They have a neat section where they show a comparison of collections of OSS projects (https://ossinsight.io/collections/). But unfortunately there was nothing C++ related in there. But now... The free-tier options for a first deployment are genuinely generous. Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, and Render all host small personal projects at no cost. GitHub Pages will publish a static site for free directly from a GitHub repository, which means the last two sections of this essay can neatly become the same action: push the code to GitHub, and it is live. - Source: dev.to / 2 months ago
Deployment: Render for streamlined CI/CD and hosting. - Source: dev.to / 3 months ago
The first problem was the cost, I was using render.com and it cost $7 per service. Given that I had a front end, a back end and a database it cost around $21 per month. - Source: dev.to / 3 months ago
TL;DR: Most developers stick to Vercel and Netlify, but there are 9 lesser-known free deployment platforms that offer better features, pricing, or performance. Railway gives you $5/month free forever, Fly.io has the best global edge network, and Render beats Heroku on every metric that matters. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
