On Mac there is (was?) Hazel, the closest thing on Linux is tfeldmann/organize: The file management automation tool., it uses Python. An alternative would be benjaminoakes/maid: Be lazy. Let Maid clean up after you, based on rules you define. Think of it as "Hazel for hackers"., but it uses Ruby, which I don't know. Source: almost 5 years ago
