I personally swear by Optimage. Although its primary function is images, it also does video. It is fast and it has a very generous free offering (24 files per day). It doesn't have many options, but to me, that's a feature, not a bug. Source: almost 5 years ago

Don't do bootcamp. Start with something like https://freecodecamp.org and take a few lessons. Try to build something from that and see how motivated you are. If you see some progress and this thing still excites you, then may be find an engineer (a friend/co worker etc) who can guide you a bit as you continue to build something.
