Ettex is an all-in-one office suite built local-first. Your documents live on your device, work offline, and sync between devices โ€” instead of sitting in someone else's cloud by default. It is a private alternative to Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.

Everyday work

Docs โ€” rich text editing, real-time collaboration, comments, version history, DOCX/PDF export. Sheets โ€” formulas, conditional formatting, sorting, charts, XLSX/CSV. Slides โ€” layouts, themes, fullscreen present mode, PPTX import. Notes โ€” ideas, research and meetings with tags, checklists and links to documents. Forms โ€” surveys with sections, validation and a live response summary. PDF โ€” fillable templates for contracts, NDAs and offers: fill, sign, download. Mail, Chat, Calendar โ€” threads, labels, scheduled send, channels, events and reminders.

Running a business

CRM โ€” contacts, a visual deal pipeline and activity tracking. Invoices & Books โ€” invoicing with PDF export, plus bookkeeping accounts, transactions and reports. Signature โ€” send documents for e-signature and track status. Sites โ€” a website and store builder with 70+ sections and one-click publishing. Board & Records โ€” kanban boards and structured tables on a local-first engine. Teams & API โ€” members, roles, audit log, and a developer API with MCP integration.

Why local-first

  • Your data is stored on your device, not in a vendor's cloud
  • Works fully offline โ€” a real desktop app for Windows and Linux, not a browser wrapper
  • Shared documents and team workspaces sync AES-GCM encrypted
  • No lock-in: import and export DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, PDF, ODT, CSV and Markdown
  • One suite instead of six separate subscriptions

Available in English and Russian. Free tier, 14-day Pro trial without a card, paid plans from $9 per user per month.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing optiCutter and Ettex.cloud.

What makes your product unique?

Ettex.cloud's answer:

Ettex is local-first. Your documents live on your device and stay usable offline, instead of being kept on a vendor's servers as the price of admission. Shared documents and team workspaces sync AES-GCM encrypted.

The second difference is scope. Instead of a single editor, Ettex is 18 connected apps: Docs, Sheets, Slides, Notes, Forms, PDF, Mail, Chat and Calendar for everyday work, plus CRM, Invoices, Bookkeeping, E-signature, Boards, Records, a website builder, a team workspace and a developer API. They share one data layer, so an invoice links to a contact and a form feeds a record.

And there is no lock-in: everything imports and exports as DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, PDF, ODT, CSV and Markdown.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Ettex.cloud's answer:

Three practical reasons.

You keep your data. Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 assume your work lives on their servers. Ettex stores it on your device and works with no connection at all โ€” a real desktop app for Windows and Linux, not a browser window.

One subscription instead of six. Docs, sheets, slides, mail, chat, calendar, CRM, invoicing, bookkeeping, e-signature, boards, records and a site builder are one product at $9 per user per month, and they are connected to each other rather than merely sold together.

You can leave. Import and export cover DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, PDF, ODT, CSV and Markdown, so nothing you create is trapped in a proprietary format.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Ettex.cloud's answer:

Small and medium businesses, startups, agencies, freelancers and nonprofit teams that need a full office toolkit but do not want their documents, client data and finances sitting on a large vendor's servers.

It fits particularly well for teams leaving Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 for privacy or cost reasons, for people who work offline or on unreliable connections, and for anyone tired of paying separately for an editor, a mailbox, a CRM and an invoicing tool that do not talk to each other.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Ettex.cloud's answer:

The web app is React with TypeScript, built with Vite. The desktop app is Tauri, so the shipped binary is native rather than a bundled browser.

Storage is local-first: documents live on the device with an operation log, so offline edits merge instead of overwriting each other. Sync goes through a lightweight relay service written in TypeScript on Node; shared documents and team workspaces are encrypted with AES-GCM via the Web Crypto API, with the key carried in the invite link fragment.

Document import and export (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, PDF, ODT, CSV, Markdown) is handled client-side, and the optional AI assistant can run locally in the browser through WebGPU.

What's the story behind your product?

Ettex.cloud's answer:

Ettex started from a simple irritation: every office suite worth using asked for the same thing up front โ€” put your documents on our servers, and trust us with them. That trade is easy to accept and very hard to undo, and it quietly turns your own files into something you rent access to.

The idea was to invert it. Build the suite local-first, so documents sit on your device and work with no connection, and let sync be an added convenience rather than the foundation. Once that base existed, the scope grew the way real work does: an editor needs a spreadsheet next to it, a spreadsheet needs an invoice, an invoice needs a contact, a contact needs mail. Eighteen apps later, they share one data layer instead of being stitched together with integrations.

The suite launched in 2026 and is available in English and Russian, on the web and as a desktop app for Windows and Linux.
