Prowlo

No description of Open Devdocs yet.

Prowlo is a hosted, MCP-native social data layer for AI agents. It turns Reddit and X into clean, structured data your agent can query by meaning — via an independent crawl, never the Reddit API. How it works: Collect — Watchers track the subreddits, keywords, and communities you care about; new...

  • MCP Server
One install gives Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, and Cline tools like search_dataset, reddit_search, read_post, read_comments, and list_watchers — typed JSON, no glue code.
  • Semantic Search
Every record ships with a vector embedding. Search your Dataset by meaning in one call, not boolean keyword strings.
  • Watchers
Persistent crawl rules over subreddits, X accounts, HN keywords, and RSS feeds, with optional prefilters (upvote threshold, flair, regex). No Watchers, no crawl.
  • Multi-platform coverage
Reddit, X (Twitter), Hacker News, Mastodon, and RSS indexed into one searchable Dataset on the same schema.
  • Hosted crawl, no Reddit API
Independent hosted crawl that kept working through Reddit's May 2026 unauthenticated lockout — no developer app, no API keys, no scrapers to maintain.
  • Alerts & Trends
Brand-mention, competitor, and keyword alerts to Slack, webhook, or email — AI-verified before they fire, with threshold spike alarms and 7-day trend deltas.
  • REST API + Webhooks
Same typed data over REST with cursor pagination, idempotent reads, and rate-limit headers. Pipe to n8n, Make, or your own backend.
  • AI Mention Verification
Every keyword match is checked by AI before it reaches you — "is this post actually about your product?" Included on every plan. No credits, no per-call fees, ever.
  • Keyword Monitor
Daily keyword sweep across all of Reddit — not just the communities you watch. Add a description per keyword and verification uses it to drop coincidental matches.
  • Agent-managed setup
Your agent doesn't just read the data — it can create Watchers, add keywords, and tune monitoring itself over MCP. Tell Claude what to track; it sets Prowlo up.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Open Devdocs and Prowlo.

What makes your product unique?

Prowlo's answer:

Prowlo is built as a memory, not a notification feed. Most Reddit tools send a stream of keyword alerts. Prowlo turns the sources you choose into a persistent, semantically-searchable Dataset your AI agent queries by meaning over MCP.

  • Watchers-as-memory. A Watcher crawls only the subreddits, accounts, and keywords you pick, filters out noise, and embeds every surviving post into a Dataset that builds up over time. Your agent searches it by meaning, cites it, and dedupes across calls.
  • No Reddit API dependency. Prowlo runs its own hosted crawl, so it kept working after Reddit blocked unauthenticated access in May 2026. No API credentials, no per-call fees, no scrapers to maintain.
  • One schema across networks. Reddit, X, Hacker News, Mastodon, and RSS all return the same typed JSON, so adding a source never breaks your agent.
  • Agent-native and read-only. Built for Claude, Cursor, and Cline over MCP. It finds, ranks, and analyzes. It never posts.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Prowlo's answer:

  • Language and tooling: TypeScript across a pnpm + Turbo monorepo.
  • Frontend: Next.js (App Router), React, Tailwind CSS, Radix UI, MDX.
  • Backend/API: Node.js + Express, with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) SDK for agent access, plus a REST API and webhooks.
  • Data: PostgreSQL (via Prisma) with vector embeddings for semantic search; Redis + BullMQ for crawl and processing queues.
  • AI: OpenAI and Google Vertex AI for embeddings and language tasks.
  • Realtime and ops: Socket.IO / WebSockets, Stripe (billing), Resend (email), Sentry + OpenTelemetry (observability), PostHog (analytics).

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Prowlo's answer:

  • Developers and AI engineers building agents and workflows on Claude, Cursor, Cline, or any MCP client who need clean, structured social data without writing or maintaining scrapers.
  • Founders and small growth teams who want Reddit and X signal (buying intent, competitor mentions, brand chatter) piped into their own tools.
  • Indie hackers and technical marketers who outgrew keyword-alert inboxes and want their agent to do the qualifying.

What's the story behind your product?

Prowlo's answer:

I build automated content pipelines for clients, and over time I got good at one specific thing: pulling signal from real, live discussions instead of stale datasets. The hard part was never the AI model. It was everything before it. Ingesting the data, filtering out the noise, and making it searchable by meaning. Not every developer wants to learn how a vector database works or how to wire up embeddings, and once you add proxies and CAPTCHA solvers on top, a "simple" scraper quietly turns into a maintenance project.

So I decided to solve that part once, properly, and turn it into a tool.

It took three tries to get right:

  • v1 was just an n8n workflow, duct-taped together for my own projects.
  • v2 looked more like a product but was, honestly, AI slop. I leaned too hard on what Claude told me to build and ended up with yet another Reddit lead-gen app.
  • v3, the current version, came after advice from experienced founders. I stripped it back to the essentials, cut the features nobody needed, and made the whole thing operable by an AI agent. The agent can manage and use every part of Prowlo, not just pull data out of it.

This is the setup I run for my own projects today. Paired with Claude or any MCP agent it is genuinely easy to work with, and for a solo founder like me it opens up a lot that used to take a whole team.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Prowlo's answer:

Alert tools (F5Bot, Syften, Octolens) deliver keyword hits to a human inbox, and some now bolt an MCP endpoint on top. Prowlo is the other way around: an agent-first data layer where the persistent, embedded Dataset is the product.

  • Verification included. AI mention verification runs on every plan at no extra cost — competitors meter their AI features with credits.
  • Memory vs stream. Competitors give your agent a live window into new mentions. Prowlo gives it an accumulating, semantically-searchable corpus of your niche it can reason over and cite.
  • Durability. Prowlo's independent crawl is insulated from Reddit's API pricing and the May 2026 unauthenticated lockout that broke many free tools and shut down GummySearch.
  • Flat, simple pricing. From $19/mo flat (14-day free trial, no card) — no credits, no per-mention fees, no filter-count tiers that climb fast.
  • More in the box. Multi-platform coverage on one schema, semantic search included, and REST plus webhooks alongside MCP.
