Features and specs

What each product offers, as listed by its team.

Opalstack 5 features
InfoSlides 5 features
  • Developer-Friendly Hosting
Opalstack is designed with developers in mind, offering SSH access, Git integration, and support for multiple programming languages and frameworks including Python, Node.js, Ruby, and PHP, giving developers granular control over their hosting environment.
  • Affordable Pricing
Opalstack offers competitive pricing for shared and managed hosting plans, making it an accessible option for small businesses, freelancers, and individual developers who need robust features without enterprise-level costs.
  • Modern Control Panel
Opalstack provides a clean, modern, and intuitive web-based dashboard for managing sites, applications, databases, and email accounts, which is a significant improvement over older-style hosting control panels like cPanel.
  • Strong Support for Multiple Applications
The platform supports a wide variety of application types including WordPress, Django, Flask, Express, static sites, and more, allowing users to host diverse projects on a single account with easy deployment.
  • Reliable Infrastructure and Support
Opalstack is built by former WebFaction team members, bringing experienced hosting expertise. They offer responsive customer support and a reputation for stable, well-managed server infrastructure with good uptime.

Possible disadvantages

  • Smaller Community and Ecosystem
Compared to major hosting providers like DigitalOcean, AWS, or even shared hosts like SiteGround, Opalstack has a smaller user base, which means fewer community tutorials, third-party guides, and forum discussions available for troubleshooting.
  • Limited Scalability Options
Opalstack is primarily a shared hosting provider, which means it may not be the best choice for high-traffic applications or projects that require rapid, on-demand scaling of resources like CPU, RAM, or storage.
  • Not Ideal for Beginners
While developer-friendly, Opalstack's approach can be intimidating for non-technical users. Setting up applications often requires familiarity with the command line and server configuration, which may not suit those looking for simple one-click solutions.
  • Limited Data Center Locations
Opalstack offers a relatively small number of data center locations compared to major cloud providers, which may result in higher latency for users targeting audiences in regions not well-served by the available server locations.
  • Fewer Managed Services and Add-ons
Unlike larger hosting platforms, Opalstack lacks a wide range of managed add-on services such as built-in CDN integration, managed backups with granular restore options, or one-click SSL management that more mainstream providers offer out of the box.
  • Easy to Use
InfoSlides is designed with a simple, intuitive interface that allows users to create slides and presentations quickly without a steep learning curve.
  • Quick Content Creation
The platform enables fast turnaround for generating informational slides, which is useful for users who need to produce content under tight deadlines.
  • Templates and Design Assistance
InfoSlides offers pre-built templates and design tools that help users create visually appealing slides without needing advanced design skills.
  • Web-Based Accessibility
Being a web application, InfoSlides can be accessed from any device with an internet connection, making it convenient for users on the go.
  • Cost-Effective for Basic Needs
For users who need simple slide creation without complex features, InfoSlides can be a more affordable alternative compared to full-featured presentation software.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Opalstack and InfoSlides.

What makes your product unique?

InfoSlides's answer:

Most digital signage platforms lock you into a proprietary content editor and charge a premium for hardware. InfoSlides takes a different approach: you upload your existing PowerPoint presentations and we handle the rest, rendering them into video streams for any smart TV or display. What really sets us apart is live content aggregation or dynamic slides: your slides can automatically pull in real-time data like weather, news feeds, and custom RSS sources, so your displays stay fresh without anyone touching them.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

InfoSlides's answer:

The core reason is simplicity without sacrifice. Enterprise signage platforms are powerful but expensive and complex to operate. Budget alternatives look cheap but lack scheduling, live data, and multi-screen management. InfoSlides hits the middle: your team already knows PowerPoint, so there's no learning curve, and the platform handles rendering, streaming, scheduling, and live content automatically. You get professional results right away. For small-to-mid-sized organizations, that's a meaningful difference. The price is also modest for the quality and efficiency the system offers.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

InfoSlides's answer:

InfoSlides is built for small and mid-sized businesses that need professional digital displays without enterprise budgets or complexity. Our typical customers include offices managing lobby and common area screens, retail locations running promotional displays, restaurants and cafes with menu boards, hotels with wayfinding and event screens, and co-working spaces with member-facing announcements. The common thread: organizations that already create content in PowerPoint and want an easy, affordable way to get it onto screens.

What's the story behind your product?

InfoSlides's answer:

The idea was originally born by the need to provide current, accurate details to tourists in Iceland. The weather can be harsh during the winter months and in these cases its important for travellers to get accurate details about the current weather, the weather forecast and road conditions. The idea developed from there and now more dynamic slides have been added for instance the northen light forecast and the avalanche forecast for Icelandic businesses.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

InfoSlides's answer:

InfoSlides is built on ASP.NET Core and Blazor WebAssembly, with PostgreSQL for data storage and Redis for caching and real-time coordination. The content aggregation layer is a standalone .NET service that pulls from external data sources, RSS feeds, weather APIs, and others and injects live content into slides at render time.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

InfoSlides's answer:

InfoSlides launched in 2026 and is actively onboarding its first customers. At the time of writing we're not in a position to name reference customers yet, but we'd love to hear from early adopters who want to shape the product.
