About OGBulk and PostgreSQL

In their own words, as submitted to SaaSHub.

OGBulk
PostgreSQL

I built OGBulk because I was tired of launching a new side project or SaaS feature, sharing the link on X or in a Discord community, and seeing a broken preview. The image was the wrong size, the description was truncated, or the card didn't show at all. That first impression was dead before...

  • ACID Compliance
PostgreSQL is fully ACID (Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, Durability) compliant, ensuring reliable transactions and data integrity.
  • Extensible
PostgreSQL is highly extensible, allowing users to add custom functions, data types, and operators. This enables tailored solutions to specific requirements.
  • Advanced SQL Features
PostgreSQL supports advanced SQL features like full-text search, JSON and XML data types, and complex queries, providing powerful tools for database operations.

There is a strong and active community around PostgreSQL, offering extensive documentation, forums, and collaborative support, which aids troubleshooting and development.
  • Multiple Indexing Techniques
PostgreSQL offers a variety of indexing techniques such as B-tree, GIN, GiST, and BRIN, allowing for optimized query performance on various data types.
  • Cross-Platform Availability

Possible disadvantages

  • Complex Configuration
Setting up and configuring PostgreSQL can be complex and time-consuming, especially for beginners, requiring a good understanding of its parameters and best practices.
  • Heavy Resource Consumption
PostgreSQL can be resource-intensive, consuming significant CPU and memory compared to other database systems, which may affect performance on lower-end hardware.
  • Backup and Restore Process
The backup and restore process in PostgreSQL is not as straightforward as in some other database systems, requiring more manual intervention and understanding of tools like pg_dump and pg_restore.
  • Replication Complexity
While PostgreSQL supports replication, setting it up can be more complex than some other databases. Advanced configurations like multi-master replication can be particularly challenging.
  • Steeper Learning Curve
Due to its advanced features and extensive capabilities, PostgreSQL can have a steeper learning curve, making it harder for new users to get started compared to simpler database systems.
  • Less Third-Party Tool Support
PostgreSQL has less support from third-party tools compared to more widely adopted databases like MySQL, which can limit options for auxiliary functions like administration, monitoring, and development.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing OGBulk and PostgreSQL.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

OGBulk's answer

OGBulk is built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as a fast single‑page application. A headless Puppeteer instance powers the link‑preview logic, generating accurate platform‑specific unfurls without relying on third‑party APIs.

What makes your product unique?

OGBulk's answer

OGBulk is the only Open Graph tag tool built specifically for indie hackers and makers, combining bulk CSV generation with a real‑time, multi‑platform preview panel that shows exactly how a link will unfurl on Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Discord, iMessage, and WhatsApp — all in one place without sign‑up or clutter.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

OGBulk's answer

Most OG tools handle one URL at a time and focus on generic SEO audiences. OGBulk is designed for the speed and scale makers need: upload a CSV of hundreds of URLs and get consistent, pixel‑perfect tags instantly. It also includes specialised checkers like a 1200×630 px image validator, an X Card debugger, and a character counter — practical extras that prevent broken previews before they go live, all completely free.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

OGBulk's answer

The primary audience is indie hackers, SaaS founders, solo developers, and small maker teams who launch products frequently and need their social share previews to look flawless on every platform without investing time in manual tag debugging.

What's the story behind your product?

OGBulk's answer

OGBulk was born from a personal frustration that every maker knows too well. After launching a new side project and seeing the link preview break across social media — the image wrongly cropped, the description missing — the founder set out to build a dedicated tool that would put an end to embarrassing unfurls and give indie hackers the same quality of social cards as big-budget startups.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

OGBulk's answer

Because OGBulk is a free, no‑sign‑up tool, it does not have named enterprise customers. It is used daily by thousands of indie hackers, Gumroad creators, Product Hunt launchers, and front‑end developers who need reliable bulk OG tags and social previews they can trust.
