Nullroom delivers a truly ephemeral messaging experience by removing the "middleman" server entirely. Unlike traditional apps that rely on centralized infrastructure, Nullroom uses peer-to-peer (P2P) technology to ensure your data stays strictly between you and your peer.

Designed for the post-quantum era, Nullroom's stateless architecture is a direct defense against "Harvest Now, Decrypt Later" attacks. Because there is no server memory and no stored metadata, there is simply nothing for an adversary to harvest or archive for future decryption.

With a "nothing left behind" philosophy, Nullroom requires no accounts, no phone numbers, and zero installation. Simply open a room, chat, and close the tab to wipe the session from existence. Open-source, donation-funded, and built for those who require absolute transient privacy.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Nullroom.io and mIRC.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Nullroom.io's answer

Most competitors still require a phone number, an account, or an app installation, all of which leave a digital footprint. Nullroom requires none of that. It is browser-native, you simply open a URL, chat, and close the tab. The moment the tab is closed, the session and all associated data vanish from existence. If you need a communication tool that truly has "no memory," Nullroom is the safest choice.

What makes your product unique?

Nullroom.io's answer

Nullroom is built on a "zero-trace" architecture. Unlike traditional secure messengers that rely on centralized servers to route or store metadata, Nullroom is entirely stateless. It uses peer-to-peer (P2P) technology to create a direct bridge between devices. There is no company behind it, no database to hack, and no incentive to track users. It is a "ghost" room designed specifically for the post-quantum era, ensuring that conversations cannot be harvested now and decrypted later.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Nullroom.io's answer

The primary audience consists of individuals who require absolute, transient privacy for sensitive data exchange. This includes investigative journalists coordinating with sources, whistleblowers, cybersecurity professionals, or any privacy-conscious individual who needs to share information or files without leaving a trail on any server or device.

What's the story behind your product?

Nullroom.io's answer

Nullroom didn't start with a business plan; it started with a necessity. We noticed that even "private" apps were beginning to collect more metadata and require more personal info. We wanted to build a tool that solved the simple problem of needing to talk to someone right now without worrying about where that data might live in five years. It’s a tool built for the basic human right to a private conversation.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Nullroom.io's answer

Nullroom leverages WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) for direct peer-to-peer data transfers, bypassing the need for a central server. Security is handled via the Web Crypto API, utilizing high-grade encryption to ensure that messages and files are encrypted end-to-end before they even leave the sender's browser. The entire frontend is designed to be lightweight and stateless for maximum speed and security.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Nullroom.io's answer

We do not know. We should not know. We must not know. Nullroom is designed so that the creator has zero visibility into who is using the service or what is being sent. Anonymity is our core feature.
