What makes your product unique?

serrv's answer:

serrv previews static websites on a real local web server at a trusted address like https://portfolio.local/ — with a valid certificate and the secure lock icon, in every browser including Firefox. Unlike opening files directly (file://) or a plain dev server on http://localhost:port, serrv reproduces a real production origin, so root-relative paths, clean URLs, fetch()/ES modules, service workers and secure-context APIs all behave exactly as they will once published.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

serrv's answer:

Most local dev tools (MAMP, Laravel Herd, Valet) are built around PHP and databases. serrv is deliberately static-only and focuses on one thing done well: a real, trusted HTTPS address for your finished site, with zero setup. No port numbers, no self-signed certificate warnings, no Firefox workaround, and all your sites stay available at once. It complements your SSG dev server rather than replacing it — keep astro dev or eleventy --serve for editing, use serrv as the final check on a real address.

serrv's answer:

Developers and designers who build static websites — by hand, with static site generators like Eleventy, Astro or Hugo, or with AI tools. Anyone who wants to verify a finished build exactly as it will look live before publishing, especially those testing HTTPS-only behavior like service workers or secure-context APIs.

What's the story behind your product?

serrv's answer:

serrv comes from MAMP GmbH, long known for local development environments on the Mac. As static sites and static site generators became mainstream, a recurring problem stood out: a finished static site opens fine on a live server, but double-clicking it locally quietly breaks — missing assets, dead links, no lock icon, disabled secure-context features. serrv was built to close that gap with a deliberately simple, static-focused Mac app.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

serrv's answer:

serrv is newly launched; it's used by independent developers, designers and studios building static sites on macOS.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

serrv's answer:

serrv is a native macOS app (macOS 15+). The local web server is powered by Caddy, and file transfer in serrv max uses rclone. It runs entirely on your Mac — no cloud and no account required.
