Muuted's primary audience is People who are tired of algorithmic feeds deciding what they see — news readers who know which sources they trust and which topics they are done with. It also fits anyone leaving Feedly or Google News looking for something calmer and more transparent. People who want to stay informed and follow the sources they care about without surrendering control of their attention to algorithms.

They already have publications, creators, podcasts, blogs, YouTube channels, or communities they trust, but are frustrated by clickbait, outrage, repetitive topics, unwanted recommendations, and feeds designed to never end.

Muuted is for people who want a quieter, more intentional relationship with the internet: choose what comes in, remove what they don't want, and be done when they've caught up.

Muuted's answer

Muuted started with a simple frustration: I wanted to stay informed, but I was tired of the way the internet delivered information to me. I was tired of every feed being an engagement machine. I built Muuted as a one-person project, working with AI coding tools, to make the feed reader I actually wanted: my sources, my mutes, no algorithm. It grew from a personal tool into an open beta.

Every feed seemed designed around the same goal — keep me scrolling. Algorithms chose what I should see, outrage and clickbait competed for attention, and there was always something else waiting underneath.

I didn’t want to disconnect from the internet. I still wanted to follow the publications, creators, communities, podcasts, and channels I cared about. I just wanted more control over what reached me.

So I built Muuted.

The idea was simple: let me choose what comes in, let me remove what I don’t want, and don’t replace it with something else.

That’s still the idea behind Muuted today. You build the feed. You set the boundaries. And when you’ve caught up, you’re done.

You choose every source you follow, then decide what you don’t want to see. Muuted can bring together news sites, blogs, YouTube channels, podcasts, and other open sources while letting you mute specific words, topics, and unwanted noise.

Unlike algorithmic feeds, Muuted doesn’t decide what should be important to you, reorder your feed to keep you scrolling, or replace what you’ve filtered with more content.

Most importantly, filtering is transparent. When Muuted hides something, you can see what was hidden and the exact rule that caught it, then unmute or allow it if Muuted got it wrong.

The result is something intentionally different: a feed you control, that gets quieter as you tune it, and eventually runs out.
