Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing MU Tools and Code Parcel.

What makes your product unique?

MU Tools's answer

MU Tools brings 80 everyday utilities together in one place, and the file tools process everything on your device — image, video, audio and PDF files are never uploaded to a server.

  • No sign-up, no installation — open a tool and start working immediately.
  • Video and audio without uploads — compress, trim, merge and convert media locally using the browser's built-in WebCodecs.
  • Broad coverage — image, video, audio, PDF, developer, design and SEO tools in one clean place.
  • 9 languages, fully localized — every tool and page is translated, and number input follows local conventions (e.g. comma decimals).

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

MU Tools's answer

Many free online tools upload your files to a server to process them. MU Tools processes image, video, audio and PDF files on your device, so confidential files stay private and there's no upload wait — even for large videos.

  • No watermarks, no paywalls, no account required.
  • Safe for confidential files — company PDFs, private photos and recordings never leave your device.
  • Breadth + simplicity — 80 focused tools, each built to finish one task quickly.
  • Multilingual — available in 9 languages.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

MU Tools's answer

MU Tools serves anyone who needs a quick, no-friction utility during their daily work:

  • Developers — JSON formatter, regex tester, cron builder, JWT decoder, hash generator, UUID generator.
  • Creators & marketers — video trimming and compression, video to GIF, background removal, QR codes, OGP checks.
  • Designers — color picker, palette generator, WCAG contrast checker, CSS and Tailwind generators.
  • SEO specialists — meta tags, headings, broken links, structured data, robots.txt.
  • General users — PDF merge and signing, HEIC to JPG, audio conversion, unit and time zone converters.

In short, it's for people who value privacy, speed, and not having to sign up just to do one small task.

What's the story behind your product?

MU Tools's answer

MU Tools started from a simple frustration: needing a small utility — compress an image, merge a PDF, format some JSON — and ending up on cluttered sites with sign-up walls, or ones that quietly upload your files to their servers.

The goal was a clean toolbox where the tools are free, need no account, and handle your files on your own device. It began with a handful of image, PDF and text tools and has grown to 80, adding video, audio, design and SEO tools along the way.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

MU Tools's answer

MU Tools is built with Next.js (React) and TypeScript, styled with Tailwind CSS, and deployed on Cloudflare Workers.

File tools run fully client-side:

  • Video & audio — Mediabunny on top of the browser's WebCodecs API
  • AI background removal — an ONNX model running on ONNX Runtime Web
  • OCR, PNG optimization, HEIC decoding — WebAssembly (Tesseract.js, oxipng, libheif)

The server is used only where a tool has to fetch data from the web — the web analysis lookups (URLs, domains, IP addresses) and loading an image from a URL in the color picker.

The app is fully internationalized across 9 languages, and a launcher extension is available for Chrome and Edge.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

MU Tools's answer

MU Tools is a free, no-sign-up service used anonymously by developers, creators, designers and everyday users worldwide, so there are no named enterprise customers.
