Take a look at Mountain. It can automatically unmount/mount disks on suspend/resume. I no longer need it with my current setup so havenโt used it in a couple years and it doesnโt look to have been updated in years so YMMV. Source: over 4 years ago
I use a little utility app called Mountain. It can be set to "Unmount external volumes on sleep" and "Mount favorite servers on wake from sleep". I use it with USB and ethernet-connected devices and it has done exactly what I want. But I'm still on Catalina and have never used a Thunderbolt DAS. Mountain hasn't been updated in a few years, but it still works fine for me. Source: almost 5 years ago

If you read the docs for Speedtest-CLI you will see that the program timeouts after 10 seconds. Try using this for default timeout of 1 minute and also redirect errors to the same file. Speedtest-cli --timeout 60 >> /bin/speedtestoutput.txt 2>&1. Source: over 3 years ago

I have an open-source software, which can show some stats about your PC/Server. One of those stats is internet speed. I have been using speedtest-cli for now, since it is open-source and runs without having to accept any license agreements. Source: about 4 years ago
