    Take a look at Mountain. It can automatically unmount/mount disks on suspend/resume. I no longer need it with my current setup so havenโ€™t used it in a couple years and it doesnโ€™t look to have been updated in years so YMMV. Source: over 4 years ago
  • I'm so sick and tired of the disconnect and reconnects (M1 Mac)
    I use a little utility app called Mountain. It can be set to "Unmount external volumes on sleep" and "Mount favorite servers on wake from sleep". I use it with USB and ethernet-connected devices and it has done exactly what I want. But I'm still on Catalina and have never used a Thunderbolt DAS. Mountain hasn't been updated in a few years, but it still works fine for me. Source: almost 5 years ago
