What is mosparo?

mosparo is the modern solution for protecting your online forms from spam. The protection method is quite simple: mosparo blocks spam using rules matching the formโ€™s data. The detection method is comparable to an e-mail spam filter.

Usable by everybody

This modern spam protection system is one of a kind. Itโ€™s fully compatible with Screen Readers and mouse, keyboard, or touch usage.

Open source and free to use

mosparo is open-source and free to use for everybody. You can install it on every regular web hosting.

Data privacy

mosparo uses only the data someone has entered into the form (plus the IP address and the user agent) but does not collect any other data and does not need any cookies.

Fully Customizable Design

A web admin can customize the design of the mosparo box to fit in any website or app.

Data protection

The data in mosparo gets encrypted or hashed (IP addresses) automatically before storing them in the database. All form data will be deleted automatically after 14 days.

assertpy features and specs

  • Fluent API
Assertpy offers a fluent API that makes assertions more readable and expressive, enabling developers to write assertions in a natural language style that is easy to understand.
  • Chainable Assertions
It allows for chainable assertions, enabling multiple checks to be performed in a single line of code, thereby reducing verbosity and enhancing clarity.
  • Comprehensive Assertion Methods
The library provides a wide range of built-in assertion methods, catering to various types of data validations, such as checking for size, type, value, and more.
  • Extensibility
Assertpy supports extending its functionality by defining custom assertions, allowing developers to tailor it to their specific needs.
  • Pythonic
Designed with Pythonic principles in mind, Assertpy fits seamlessly into Python projects, enabling idiomatic and consistent code style.

Possible disadvantages of assertpy

  • Learning Curve
Developers new to the library may encounter a learning curve due to the distinct approach of using fluent and chainable assertions as opposed to traditional methods.
  • Limited by Python Version
The library may have limitations in terms of compatibility with older versions of Python, requiring users to ensure their environment is up-to-date.
  • Performance Overhead
The additional abstraction layer introduced by a fluent interface might introduce some performance overhead, especially in performance-critical or resource-constrained environments.
  • Less Community Support
Compared to more established testing libraries, Assertpy might have less community support and fewer resources available for resolving issues or getting help.
  • Dependency Management
Using a third-party library introduces additional dependencies to manage, which could complicate project maintenance and compatibility.

Questions & Answers

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

mosparo's answer

  • PHP
  • Symfony

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

mosparo's answer

Our audience is everybody with a website and a form on the website. Spam bots don't care about what kind of form you have; they like to spam you anyway.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

mosparo's answer

mosparo is

  • Free to use (no license cost ever)
  • Accessible (the protection method in your form is fully accessible)
  • Self-hosted (you have full control of the setup and the availability of the system)
  • Data-saving (mosparo stores only the information that the user entered in the form. The data is stored encrypted and for 14 days only)
  • Customizable design (the mosparo box in your form can be fully adjusted to your design)

and a lot more...

What's the story behind your product?

mosparo's answer

mosparo was founded in May 2021. We needed spam protection for a form on the homepage of a website. Because of data privacy, we wanted a self-hosted solution. So we started to search for spam protection solutions. While there are some solutions, a lot of these solutions use either a puzzle to recognize humans or are built into a system and are not available everywhere.

After some more research, we found that these puzzle solutions do not work for people with disabilities and are, therefore, not accessible. Today, every website should be accessible โ€“ but when you have a form, you must decide between accessibility, data privacy, and spam.

Because of this experience, we started to think about a new spam protection system that solves the problems with accessibility and data privacy and is free to use and installable on every regular web hosting.

mosparo โ€“ the modern spam protection โ€“ was born.

What makes your product unique?

mosparo's answer

The combination of a self-hosted, accessible, and free-to-use solution is not available from other software.

There are a lot of hosted solutions. Some of them are accessible, some not. Some are free, some not. There are also a lot of self-hosted solutions, but they usually use non-accessible methods like guessing characters or icons.

A solution that is accessible, free-to-use, self-hosted, and data-saving is pretty unique.
