MetaToolsLab was built to solve a specific problem: copying trades between MT5 accounts meant choosing between handing your broker password to a third-party service, or keeping every terminal on one machine and paying for a VPS to run it.

It launched in 2026 and is built and run by a solo founder.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Trade copiers generally take one of two approaches, and both involve a trade-off MetaToolsLab avoids.

Server-side copiers connect to your accounts using your broker login and password, held on the provider's servers. That's convenient, but it means a third party holds credentials that can trade your account. MetaToolsLab never receives them — the EA runs inside your own terminal and only places the copied trades.

Local copiers pass trades between terminals through files on a shared machine. Nothing leaves your computer, but every account must run on that one machine, which usually means paying for and maintaining a Windows VPS.

MetaToolsLab sits between the two: no credentials leave your terminal, and no shared machine is required.

Where alternatives may suit you better: MetaToolsLab supports MetaTrader 5 only. If you need MT4, cTrader or other platforms, a multi-platform copier is the right choice.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Traders who operate more than one MetaTrader 5 account and want them to trade together:

  • Traders running a funded or prop-firm account alongside their own
  • Traders holding accounts at several brokers, whether for redundancy, execution differences or regional access
  • Anyone testing a strategy on one account while trading it live on another

MetaToolsLab is a software tool. It does not provide trading signals, financial advice or account management, and it does not copy trades from third-party providers — you supply the master account.

What makes your product unique?

MetaToolsLab's answer

  • No broker credentials. Copying works through an Expert Advisor installed in each MetaTrader 5 terminal, authenticated with a per-account key from the web dashboard. Your broker login and password are never shared, transmitted or stored.
  • Terminals can be anywhere. Because trades route through a hosted service rather than a local file bridge, the master and receiving accounts don't need to sit on the same computer or VPS — they can be at different brokers, on different machines, in different countries.
  • Cross-broker symbol mapping. Brokers name instruments differently (XAUUSD, XAUUSDm, XAUUSD.sc). Per-account mapping handles the translation so trades copy correctly between brokers that don't agree on naming.
  • Per-account control. Each receiving account has its own lot multiplier or fixed sizing, reverse mode, stop-loss and take-profit copying, and slippage limits.
