Other apps either lack key features like CSV import or sharing. We plan our own thru-hikes, and we use MetaGear ourselves every time we pack.

We chose this approach to ship on both iOS and Android from a single codebase while maintaining a fast, app experience. The stack allows us to iterate quickly as a two-person team - pushing updates to both platforms simultaneously without the overhead of maintaining two separate native apps.

MetaGear is a consumer app for individual hikers, so we don't have enterprise clients. Our users are ultralight backpackers and thru-hikers - people active in communities like r/Ultralight and r/backpacking. We're a young app building our user base, who need a reliable mobile tool for their gear prep.
